Ehhhhh. There are parts of that conversation that I could defend, because there is a certain amount of logic to showing the number of still hospitalised patients who no longer have COVID but need treatment to recover (I think that in itself is valid to track). But some of the other shit that was said is off the chart, WANTING to be more scary, wanting to include this subset in the total COVID numbers, and then the dude saying to take the conversation offline (because he knows how bad it sounds) and to talk to MARKETING...

I feel like I've seen so many zoom meetings the last couple of years from hospitals, schools, local governments, the lot. And so often the brazenness of what they say is just so distressing. The school ones are typically the worst with just how overwhelmingly politically motivated and nasty the people can be, but this is also concerning. I hope to god this woman meant to track this as it's own statistic and simply misspoke. It will be her defence at any rate, but I'm not sure I could ever believe it.

It's amazing how one of the most basic morality plays: Lying for "good" reasons is still lying - one that every kid's show is expected to touch on once, one that every person has heard so many times by adulthood that it's cliche' - still goes unlearned by those at the top who think they have the moral imperative to be IMMUNE from such petty rules if the Greater Good (tm) is on the line as they see it...
