A new Hololive series: UMISEA
I was slow >-<
But anyway

I'm 110% sure it wasn't actually because of me, but the fact that Selen chose the name I came up with for her membership feels pretty sweet. I'm sure plenty of other people thought of it too, but I'm just gonna quietly take this W and go back to work.

This whole Umisea came out of nowhere, but I'm loving it. I'm all up for EN-JP collabs and this also has an animated series (the first one voiced by HoloEN members?) and is all fun altogether. I give it a rating: Calli scratching her thigh/10.

About the ENJP Sea-related-things collab, I have a mixed feeling but mostly positive. On one hand, it's clearly corporate-formed group, no need to explain that. On the other hard, it might be just want Aqua and Gura need to break down their wall and get the ball rolling. God only know how long it would take the two to collab without management intervention, my gut say never.

Marine/Aqua/Gura have always been talking about wanting to collab and interact more but being too nervous about communication trouble to do it much/at all
getting pushed into it might be a good thing for them, the only weird thing is including Ina but if it's to facilitate communication it makes more sense

I hope they do some kind of art stream like gartic phone or something, just for the gap between Ina/Marine and Aqua/Gura
though ideally you want more for gartic, so Mario Party is a perfect first choice

People said Dokibird and I don't know enough about her to contest and confirm.

The duality of man
>wtf is Management doing, why aren't they helping the talents interact and communicate with one another
>wtf is management doing, why are they forcing the talents to interact and communicate with one another

Well, they have an upcoming collab again so lets see what it brings.

With Gura's new attitude of not giving a shit anymore, maybe she'll brute force her way into things and be the hydrodynamic shark she needs to be. May it be her or management's decision, having the first/debut stream be on her channel seems like a good thing both UMISEA and the viewers.

Kuzuha's definitely not a surprise, he's had massive growth in 2021, although #2 and #6 are kind of a surprise, didn't expect Ibrahim this high up. Who's #2 again, Shibuya Hal? How did he manage to make this much of a name for himself, to a point where even his Apex customs are a big deal? As an outsider, it kinda feels like he came out of nowhere.

Ibrahim is inclining to Fuwa/Kanae levels pretty damn quickly. He takes in SCs quite often but is pretty hidden from the west due to lack of clips.

As for Shibuya HAL: The APEX/Competitive FPS scene is very incestuous. Even players like Shiv have Japanese pros on their friends list, and Selen has talked about her interactions with Selly on Overwatch before, too. It's no surprise that his networking and connections have given him a nice buff and access to sponsorships.

In August he hosted his own tournament series with other Vtubers

Apex is currently the most popular game in japan.

It make sense to see Kuzuha and Hal on top this august. The baseball event from niji one that average 50k-70k for kuzuha, then i remember he did play with jp celebrity and peaked around 144k live viewers. Hal on his apex tourneys. If remember correctly kuzuha peaked around 80k+ on apex tourney and hal peaked around 120k-130k live viewers.

As for ibrahim its about his MC project that gets him alot of viewers.

I will never say that though. If they're so socially retard and can't send a message to their co-worker, then it's on them. If anything, I'm a bit iffy whenever management step in. Granted it doesn't happen often, another time I can think about it is the PekoMiko song, and we see how that turn out in the long run.

[serious] is hololive (and vtubers as a whole) exploitative?

Discussion
(disclaimer: anyone familiar with me probably remembered my meltdown last december. i'll try not to repeat that incident, but do expect some jaded and cynical views)
a common argument brought up by naysayers is that hololive and vtubers as a whole is "exploitative" and "preys on lonely weak men." as much as we try to ignore and argue back, what are the chances they're right?
think about it.
2020 was arguably the best year for vtubers, especially hololive, thanks to covid. people in quarantine naturally felt bored, lonely, depressed and maybe even suicidal. vtubers proved to be a great distraction, and with a large (mostly male) audience tuning in and putting down the rope/gun to watch some anime girls and throw away their money to, it was the perfect storm for hololive... almost too perfect. with money and attention from almost around the world, hololive expanded and became the industry titan it is today.
that in turn leads to these questions:
is hololive (and vtubers as a whole) exploitative? do they prey on lonely folks who crave attention and interaction (ESPECIALLY from females)? do the hololem genuinely care about us, or is it just an act and they see us as easy money? what made us and them this way? what exactly is the attraction? what keeps us fascinated?

*Yawn*
Another topic like these? I feel like this shit comes out of that subreddit weekly. There's always someone like that.

Totally true tho. I'm totally being exploited because I like giving the funny autistic rabbit 5 bucks a month so I can watch her go on deranged rants for shits and giggles.
