Once they attack Taiwan, shit hits the fans and not in a good way. At which point the Chinese infiltration of the west either has to kick into gear as far as US and other nations explicitly turning a blind eye and letting China invade Taiwan and run the risk of being outed in the wake of it, or the US etc launching attacks on China that start WW3.

If they had faith in that they'd have denied it. Their current strategy actually shows the opposite, admitting it but trying to spin his actions to mitigate and reduce damage among their supporters. Nobody in the center or on the right will accept that spin, but it provides the necessary mental lubricant to allow a hard shift of gears amongst the believers.
