Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

They haven't been kicked out of five eyes. This is a separate strategic arrangement between the three. I would hope they'll expand it to include at least India soon, but given two of the three leaders on charge are retarded, that's probably not happening.

This is an arrangement by the two best submarine manufacturers in the world sharing that technology with a Pacific ally and you want to include the retards who lost a submarine because they left the fucking door open?

Yeah, but it would be too depressing seeing something we took the time and energy to build constantly getting destroyed by the people we sold it to. Like selling a car to someone and giving them the keys, only for them to immediately wreck it by smashing into a utility pole.

You feel like a disappointed parent.

We could always go the USSR route and sell them a monkey model. It's not like Indians would use it to their full potential or maintain any of the high maintenance or fragile systems on it properly anyway and we can keep shipbuilders and laborers employed.

I remember a discussion I once had with my Uncle, a high-ranking retired Army officer, and he once mused that one of the reasons that the USA sold the Shah F-14s (which at the time, were cutting edge) during the Iraq/Iran war was that the US's military knew they'd all be grounded in less than a month because there was literally no one in Iran with even the beginnings of the technical knowledge to handle the avionics if they needed to be recalibrated.

The Shah era Iran was an interesting place. They were muslims but not the brain dead "beat yourself with spike laden chains for listening to music played with instruments" brand of muslims. They were going to buy F16s and C5 galaxy's (why Iran wanted strategic super cargo airlift for domestic operations is a dumb move though). The US should have aided the Shah as he was pretty much an ATM machine for our MIC and thus provided jobs. As for maintenance the Arab States, being too stupid to maintain sophisticated aircraft hire former USAF and US Navy mechanics with high paying salaries to maintain their stuff. I could only imagine what kind of treasure trove of modern war machines a modern Shah controlled Iran would have in its arsenal. One thing for sure is they would be better allies for maintaining the petrodollar than the Saudis or Kuwaitis.

That's because the Pahlavis were Iranian in name only; the last Shah barely spoke Persian and his wife certainly didn't. Most Iranians hated them precisely because they are the "beat yourself with razors on the anniversary of the Caliph Ali's martyrdom" branch of Islam.
