Can I just say how much I hate him using "behind the scenes"? He has no idea what it means. The word he is looking for is "off stream".

Remember that he also used it while talking on the phone with the judge for his bankruptcy. He wanted to discuss his bankruptcy "behind the scenes," and neither him or the judge thought that was suspicious wording.

I think he is using it semi appropriately, to refer to somewhere he can hide things he wants to more easily.

Phil is too lazy to set up a green screen, update his computer to Windows 10 to use a free streamdeck that was donated to him, set up OBS scenes/group his webcam and border together, or do even the most minimal editing (splicing videos together after his recording gets interrupted). But the day after he gets a messy sandwich from BK he already has a hot key set up to put the picture on the stream so he can complain. Priorities.
