  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Probably slow but r/politics' looking for new jannies, will be hilarious if anyone infiltrated for fun

  • Impartiality. While everyone has opinions, especially on a topic as opinionated as US politics, we as a mod team strive for impartiality to make sure that we are enforcing our rules fairly. Enforcing the subreddit rules is not about removing opinions you disagree with, and we take impartiality seriously in evaluating and retaining new moderators.

lol
Wonder how fast you'd get kicked off the mod team for actually impartially enforcing the rules.

/r/politics has so many bots and shills and astroturfers that it barely even needs moderators, anything even mildly against their hivemind gets creamed with hundreds of downvotes almost instantly. Having a thread even escape /new is a privilege reserved for a certain few.

Just some gay shit on the Los Angeles subreddit. I guess a mod (u/405Freeway) and his friend (u/mannyAPH) went to Disneyland and the guy whines about there being kids. Why do all these Reddit POSs hate kids?

Gotta love the 20's style font they used for the logo. How much do you wanna bet they were inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog? :(

There's a pretty good chance you're not arguing with a real person on reddit given how circular arguements tend to be. Someone discovered a while back that there's bots that straight up scoop up replies to similar content and regurgitate it word for word. AskReddit is filled to the brim of repost questions and repost answers.

I've always wanted to set up a pitbull bot where anyone who says "pitbulls aren't violent" gets a reply with an article of a toddler death and a graphic dog bite image.

I’m gonna take it one step further and say that there is effectively no difference between a person who posts comments tailor-maid to farm upvotes (e.g. regurgitating the same jokes and groupthink opinions) and a robot.

It’s somewhat of an offshoot of the Chinese Room thought experiment - with a robot you’re obviously not interacting with a real person, but when you talk to a Redditor, you are not talking to a real person with a real interest in discussions and a sharing of ideas who is accurately representing their own personality and beliefs - you’re talking to what is effectively an automaton that writes responses optimized to farm upvotes by conforming to the Reddit hivemind.

You're probably onto something there. Like 80% of reddit is so predictable there's no point in even clicking on a topic when you already know what the top comments are going to be.

Republican dies? The top post will be a roundabout way of mocking it without mocking it.

Star Citizen thread? Just a bunch of bots looping the same arguements over and over again.

Relationship Advice? Dump them

Am I The Arsehole? Well, if you posted a topic that makes it look like you're an arsehole then the post itself will be a 2000 word essay skirting around it and ending up proving that you're a good guy afterall.

Just yesterday there was a topic about a video game that had Margaret Thatcher return from hell and you had to kill her and put her back there (some Doom mod thingy) and I was surprised to see that the comments weren't what I thought they'd be, simply because they'd all been removed by a mod. They were there though.

Magic the Gathering in 2021: TRANS BLACK VIKINGS
Haven't played since I gave my cards to an old childhood friend. I'm sure this is comedic exaggeration. Right? RIGHT!?

I scrolled around a bit and generally they put on a good face, but it?s not like they would admit anything negative there is there?

There really needs to be checks & balances between users and site staff. I don't even care if its abused for raids, the site's already gone to shit because of the powertripping bastards.

Sounds like the typical subreddit

Imagine thinking you're "virtuous" solely because you don't rape kids, even though most of these probably actually do.

From their website:

Our website is intended to reduce the stigma attached to pedophilia by letting people know that a substantial number of pedophiles DO NOT molest children, and to provide peer support and information about available resources to help virtuous pedophiles remain law-abiding, and lead happy, productive lives

You know NOT MOLESTING children is sort of the default position for nearly all of humanity, you shouldn't be giving yourself a virtuous label for it.

If you say you don't like being that way, and want nothing to do with it, but then make "pedo" part of your identity, even if it's with the word "virtuous" before it, you're full of shit. It's like someone saying they don't care about their Italian heritage but they introduce themselves as italian to everyone they meet. I don't have to look at a single post in the sub, just the name alone makes it obvious that they're just as dangerous as any other pedo scum.
