That's like saying art is just drawing a bunch of lines, or coding is just typing. Its reductive to the point of insanity.

Also, if Pianos are hard because you need to play more than one note at a time for chords, why wouldn't you include other instruments that can play chords? Guitars you play plenty of chords. Banjos too, hell even bass guitars use chords on occasion. You can even do multiphonics on brass instruments, though to be fair, I think they sound awful as a general rule. Maybe even more, but those are just a few examples that I can think of, of instruments that prove her thesis wrong.

Also, the human voice can be multiphonic. If you look up overtone singing from some (primarily) Asian cultures like Tuva or Mongolia.

You can hear overtone singing really clearly in the intro to the song, its that low humming and whistling kinda noise over top of it right as the vid starts.

And example of a trombone player playing two notes at once.
Yes, or drums, which you famously need to coordinate different speeds with both hands and probably a foot for the most basic tasks. Or the harp, where you're expected to very precisely use both hands to play different strings at once. Or the theremin, or bagpipes. Honestly, it's hard for me to think of an instrument where you aren't capable of playing multiple notes at once and/or where you don't have to coordinate both hands simultaneously. Even if we're only counting cases where you need both, there's probably more instruments where it applies than those where it doesn't.

Like everything that comes out of Jerry's mouth, the crack about how easy it is to play instruments is completely baseless to the point you have to question if he's doing it deliberately to drive up engagement. If it were actually that easy to play, why doesn't Jerry actually play an instrument? Why not make a bunch of WoW cover videos to earn some easy cash, or make some custom music for his fanfics or something? The answer is he can't, but he's gotta come up with some sour grapes excuse so he doesn't feel like a failure.

Didn't manage to catch much and most of what I did was awfully boring.

At some point she claimed that it's easy to play any instrument or learn how to, because quote: ''all you have to do is play one note at a time.'' But piano is harder, because ''you have a whole other hand to worry about.'' She plays part of some melody from WOW on I don't know what and prides herself that she needed to figure out which note to play by ear like a savage.

The only instrument I have ever seen her play on stream were the Pokemon gym badges.

Face cam was on at some moment, but like nothing happens other than her weird expressions.View attachment 4001577
I imagine this is the face she'll make when finding out about Opal's video.
You couldn't be more right it's a snoozefest.
However, Lily called Lolo Ginger by mistake and an interesting thing happened.

Now I don't see a simple slip of the tongue to be embarrassing, everyone does it.

It shows how Lolo will twist herself in knots to make Lily happy, always taking the blame and assuming fault. Lolo tries so hard to make Lily feel better, and at the same time won't just let it go. The silence as Lily silently begs for the chat to move on from her embarrassment is deafening. These two will date in the future I'm almost 100% certain. I don't understand why Lily overreacts the way she does over a simple name slip. Unless doesn't want to think about Ginger, an ex that left her, while in the process of wooing her new toy.

The biggest issue with learning music isn't even really the music. It's rhythm. It's easy to hear notes and think you're playing the right pitches, but it's another ballpark entirely to have any sort of rhythm or play with good rhythm.

Rhythm and tempo are the major hurdle to learning any piece of music.

Can I learn Debussy's Prelude no12, Minstrels if I go very slowly? Yes, of course. I'm looking at my sheet music for it right now.

And when I look at it, I recognize each and every note that will be played. I recognize the note name, the note type, the dynamics, the articulations, the suggested finger numbers, it's all stuff I get. But I don't know exactly how fast these 16th and eighth and grace notes are until I am given a tempo. Yes, I can count them out to find where they fall on the beat, but until I know how fast I'm supposed to go (and the tempo marking is in french because debussy was french) it's "easy".

As soon as you introduce tempo and rhythm, the "one note at a time" work will either sink or swim. So if you've played something enough, you have, in theory, practiced it enough to add in that speed and see where those beats fall.

And if you practice too slow, to make sure you get all of those notes? Well...then you'll never get better. You'll train yourself to be slow. You have to push yourself to steadily go faster, which requires high levels of motor function and hand-eye coordination...

This isn't even getting into reading rhythms, and feeling rhythm.

And figuring out the notes by ear isn't "savage" it's just ear training. Everyone does it. Some people are even born with perfect pitch, the lucky bastards.

I hate people simplifying playing music to just haha funny notes, because it's hard work to learn a piece. It's physical and mental work.

Woodwinds can also do multiphonic, but...it didn't work for Coltrane. And if Coltrane can't make it work, then it ain't gonna work.

...that's not a traditional flute. That's a recorder-style flute, or ocarina. The biggest difference is how you blow into them to produce sound.

The western metal flute, the one you hold at a right angle to your mouth, has you blow *across* the hole. It's an airy sound for beginners.
Whatever Lily is holding is something you blow into. And the way she's getting part of a minor scale suggests it's got a more intuitive fingering pattern, so something you would hold up and down. Western flutes are harder for fingers because everything is sideways, and it's got little triggers on it and shit.

It's probably a native American instrument she got, and now that she's totes cherokean she's using it.

The clip wasn't that bad, but she doesn't know enough to really give bad advice here.

You got it! It is a Cherokee flute, her mom got it for her birthday. Her dad broke the original one she had as a child in a fit of rage.

Maybe we'll get more of her flute antics during the stream today

I thought this might be an old clip but it's new. She's still gnawing away at that bone.

There is something to be said about people who obsess over things they hate. I won't say too much because it'd make me a hypocrite just for posting on this site (even though most of us are just laughing at idiots more than anything), but it's fairly sad that some people can't help but force themselves to interact with things they dislike.

I'm sorry but anyone who uses an avatar that casually wears what looks to be a night gown, has that big boobs and that tiny of a waist even when sitting down shouldn't ever be saying anything about sexy character designs of other people.

Edit:
Now that I think about it, Liliana has been sick for a very long time now, right? She says it's "the flu" but couldn't be she actually caught Covid for the first time and the basement dweller that she is didn't know it?

That'd be some poetic justice if I ever saw it after dismissing Covid as just a bad cold and all the preventives measures against it.

Let's not be sneering about people having bad cases of COVID, whatever posturing they were doing beforehand. It's tacky.

It's also unlikely. Nova Scotia's recent cases are extremely low and as you said, Lily is a basement dweller. The chances of her catching COVID are practically nil (I'm not sure if she even leaves the house for groceries, given how much time she spends streaming). She claims to have gotten COVID twice already (also dubious), and also got herself the two-dose vaccination earlier this year.

Far more likely is that she has bad health habits. She's sedentary, eats poorly, and has no sleep schedule. She's stressed by finances, and by the very nature of her job (being mad at things). She doesn't lead a healthy life physically or mentally. She doesn't leave the house often so her body isn't exposed to ambient infection and doesn't make antibodies against common illnesses. Chances are she's unhealthy overall, and in that state even the common cold can stick around for weeks. If you're in really bad shape you can have symptoms of a chronic cold without even being infected.

I highly suspect Lily's ongoing illness is a consequence of lifestyle.

This has been bugging me a bit. She went ranting and raving about how Game Freak's development team is fundamentally incompetent and will personally swipe at them at any and every opportunity, but when it comes to corporate Disney's bullshit she's always running interference. "This definitely isn't Disney's fault!" she says, ignoring that the first thing Disney ever said about Strange World was that it was the first Disney movie to have an openly gay lead protagonist and one of the earliest previews (if not the first) was showing off the scene of him getting flustered and teased about talking to the boy he has a crush on.

Some targets are acceptable, and when they're acceptable the fault is either malice or absolute incompetence. Other targets are not acceptable and no matter what they do that you don't like it's only because outside factors forced them to do it.

Maybe it's because Game Freak is Japanese

Somewhat off topic, but I don't actually buy that Disney tanked the marketing for that movie because of a gay character. At least, from the few people who have seen it they described it as being fantastically average. Like, there's nothing of interest or intrigue about this one, just kind of a boring movie. A bit of a stinker. Disney's a big company, they had to have focus-tested the film. If the gay character was bugging that many test audiences, maybe, but Disney's been known to only have so much gay in their films and shows that they can cut it out for international release so I don't think that'd be a sticking point. That they cut the marketing just so they can point to this movie and say that LGBTQ+ doesn't sell or something.

I think it's more likely they saw test audiences weren't really going crazy for it and just decided to half-ass the marketing and let it quietly bomb, rather than spend more money to let more people know about a movie they have reason to believe they won't see anyways. All I'm saying is I've seen a lot of people parrot this conspiracy about how Disney is trying to bury the movie so that it makes as little money as possible because they hate gays, and not a lot of people actually talking about the movie and I think that really says a lot. I dunno, if it's lucky it'll catch a second wind on Disney+ and Twitter will be talking about it for months like they did with Encanto but I doubt it.

Agreed, and this might be a personal opinion but I’ve always felt like Jerry’s designs aren’t sexy, they’re vulgar, tasteless.

I agree, Jerry’s just an unhealthy person.

We’ve seen the photos of him in real life does he look like a healthy person?

I think it was three times. Honestly, I don't care about tacky on this case. Liliana was telling everyone that it's just like a cold while millions of people were actually dying or losing their love ones, and was still complaining about having to be forced to think of others even while the cases were on the rise. She spread misinformation that could have seriously put at risk whichever idiot on her audience happened to listen to her about how the virus "it's practically dead anyway". Why should I give her the consideration she never had for anyone else?

Obviously I don't want her to die or suffer, just like nobody here wants that for her. If she finally got sick and found out it wasn't "just a cold", I just won't feel bad for her since she never felt bad about the people suffering the worst parts of the pandemia while she was fattening herself up in front of the computer and yelling about muh stalkers to a mic.

Hope she gets better soon though.

It's funny that people like Lily think that their lives would be better under communism, instead of being absolute hell cause a communist government would 100% not put up with her bullshit.
