15:43: On Xitter I am seeing lots of posts of people claiming to be election helpers and throwing ballots with AfD votes in the trash. It's honestly not clear to me to what extent it's fake, bait, trolling, or sincere virtue signalling.
It happened in US elections in 2020 quite noticeably. In 2024 they either did it a lot less or had wised up a lot more about showing it online. So who knows - I could believe it in Germany. Should archive or share the links for archiving if possible. Truth can be determined in time but if they vanish it never can.

Can someone please post the lyrics of the "thread theme if you are against the status quo" in English?

In the AfD livestream, they also got picture-in-picture of ARD (#1 public broadcasting channel) with election coverage, that's where the exit polls will be shown as well
Not much of a delay

  • Informative
Reactions: Vecr and Halmaz
I don't know German politics well enough to read much into these exit polls but the AfD crowd are cheering and hugging each other so I'm reading it as positive for them...

Hahaha, sure thing, lemme translate real quick

Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, foreigners out
Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, foreigners out
Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, deport foreigners

{?]
We don't make it [referencing famous Angela Merkel quote]
Middle finger to the government
And to the elite
Go away, your climate
Deport the parasite
We close the borders
[?]

Fight for Europe
Assemble the soldiers
Are you ready?
That is the battle of [?]
We come together
It won't go like this anymore
More foreigners
We don't want that

(Not more or less)
Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, foreigners out
Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, deport foreigners
Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, foreigners out
Foreigners out, foreigners out
Germany to the Germans, deport foreigners

According to the exit polls, they doubled their numbers since the last election and the "libertarian" party FDP and the commies of the BSW didn't make it into the Bundestag.

FDP is not a libertarian party. They are like CDU except with 2% lower taxes.
AfD is the most libertarian party in Germany right now.

Yeah, they seem pretty cheerful about it on the stream @XL xQgg?QcQCaTYDMjqoDnYpG . Alice Weidel just got on stage but all I could really make out was a lot of "Deutschland" and "Dankeshun". And she may have called the guy on stage with her fat but I suspect "gros" doesn't mean what I think it means. :)

The only other thing I could tell from their stream was that someone in the AfD office is an Ace of Base fan as "All That She Wants..." started playing just as they cut the sound.

But seems positive. Now I guess we wait to see how accurate all this proves to be but I bet the horse trading with the Christian Democrats is already kicking into gear. (Incidentally, doesn't that name hold them back these days in modern Germany?)

That's why I used quotes on "libertarian".
No, there really is no illusion whatsoever. Literally nobody even insinuates or alludes that the FDP is libertarian. Literally nobody.

Either way, if the exit poll is accurate, only two coalitions are thinkable:
CDU/CSU + SPD + FDP -> 328 seats
CDU/CSU + SPD + Green -> 374 seats
Or, if you are optimistic:
CDU/CSU + AfD -> 318 seats

The country is doomed as long as its populace keeps worrying about the second coming of Hitler in their head and not recognizing the speeding car of peace coming toward them.
I can't believe they call it a far-Right party. Economically liberal, scaling back environmental laws, bringing back nuclear power, pro civil unions, cutting down further immigration, pro-Israel (less so when Israel told them to fuck off), mildly Eurosceptic, pro-German culture. Their only problem seems to be they can't agree with each other on messaging and people keep reading extra context into what they're saying.

I think with Trump's election (and the scale of the deportations he's introduced), and a desire to head off worries about the Ukraine war, and the simple reality on the ground that is obviously increasingly impossible for most Germans to ignore, I think they'll actually do better than projected, though not by much. Considering how fractious they are, it'll be interesting if they decide to moderate some of their stances on immigration for the sake of a coalition. Then they'll probably split in another 5 years.

Well, they did double their vote.

The interesting part will be how form a government. I really don’t see any way to make a majority here. Especially if the FPD and BSW don’t get in.

CDU and Greens don’t see eye to eye at all.

And the FDP probably won’t get in.
