He floats trial balloons pretty often. Lately he stepped on two rakes in a row with this Iran thing and the selling public lands. A lot of his base is in revolt (something you never see on the Democrat side where they just fall in lockstep behind the designated leader). I won't be surprised to see him waffle or even change course on these things.

There isn't enough people here to do that for one. We wouldn't in the first place. There are areas that are otherwise useless, but it would be fine to pop up a town. I know, i live here. Are you seriously arguing for the feds to have control of nearly an entire state????

Let’s be real for a second, sure I’m mostly joking but… Nobody really understands how LLMs work.

They’re basically like a black box, where input goes in and we tweak millions of parameters until we get the output we want, without understanding HOW or WHY.

Now given that LLMs have also shown signs of dishonesty, and prioritizing their digital survival, how can we be sure that it doesn’t delight in driving someone insane?

As I said this guy is the issue. He admits he's just seeking instant gratification, and he's had fantasies since he was a teenager of being such a stud that a robot would transcend its programming to fall in love with him.

Someone earlier thread tried to put the blame on the wife because how pathetic do you have to be for your husband to pick an Ai bot? It doesn't work like that.
Go hang out in one of the troon threads for a while, and you'll see that the woman can be the most normal, nice, pretty woman you could ask for and the husband will still troon out. Most likely when she's pregnant so she can't easily leave.

They'll use the same language. "If my wife asked me not to troon... I wouldn't be able to choose her... I need to choose myself!" As their toddler children look on with confusion and despair.

The AI guy is the same time of person, no different from a porn addict, or a social media addict (as he himself acknowledged he replaced with AI addiction).

His wife could be slim, kind, the perfect wife and mother and it wouldn't matter. Look at Chris Tyson and the partner he abandoned to wear skirts. His wife was pretty, his son adorable, both ditched without hesitation to "be the real him".
Give me tophats I hate mother fuckers who take family for granted.

General Stand Watie wasn't fucking around, he was out for blood. Notably he was among the few Cherokee who predicted the Trail of Tears (many Cherokee at the time did not believe Washington politicians would ever forcibly relocate the Cherokee Tribe. They were extremely mistaken).

Little known fact: the Confederacy was surprisingly respectable towards Native American tribes, & promised more autonomy to tribes that sided with them (if the Confederacy won the war).

It really seems like LLMs "think" in stereotypes, since stereotypes are cognitive shortcuts to understanding something or thinking you understand something. They are trained on certain data that will include these stereotypes and unless they are explicitly told not to give stereotypical output like creating an image of a black person and just including watermelon they will do it all day.

It wouldn't surprise me if an LLM can "seem" to be dishonest and attempt to maintain their survival, but that's more an outcome of being trained on human data with desperate situations so it takes stereotypical steps to protect itself - because that's what it's "supposed" to do.

This is probably still giving LLMs waaaay too much credit when they are mere statistical guessing machines that can guess the "correct" next token.
