Honeybees are domesticated, so that isn’t even an exception. Do you know about the research in Russia about domesticated foxes? That’s actual, positive work in animal husbandry. SaveAFox was a woman’s fashion collection, except with living animals. Did she even have any education in zoology or veterinary medicine?

In Spain, there is an infamous sanctuary for pigeons called La Paloma Triste ran by a old woman named Myriam Roelants. She is known among pigeon helpers from Belgium, France and Spain. A volunteer would drive across countries to gather disabled pigeons from those countries so they would be sent to the sanctuary. She received a lot of money from people to run the place. She was first in Belgium (if i remember correctly), then kicked for obscure reason, went to France, kicked again and ended up in Spain where animal laws are more flexible.
Some people began to be suspicious because the owner would almost never post follow ups of rescue, no videos of the place of things, no news of bird people would pay for and things like that. When pressured to do it, she would say "later, later" but never did, claiming to be too busy while posting often on social media.
Some people went to the place, turn out it was a hoarding situation. Pigeons were left with extensive injuries, with strings still around feet, dead bodies, including chicks, rats and mice, garbage on the ground, etc. When confronted, the owner claimed it was "fake news" by pigeon haters and some people kept supporting her despite the evidence. My French is not good enough to translate the blog that exposes her, if anyone wants to summarize... Worst part is she seemed to withdraw huge amount of cash sometimes 3000e per day, and nobody know what she did with that. She has no proof of buying food, vet, etc. As far as I know, it is still open, working and accepting pigeons. Spain authorities do not seem to give a fuck, same about some local animal organizations.

Update on the woman who killed herself because of redditors. The sharty is actively in the process of phonebooking people on the Snark Subreddit that was behind her suicide. Apparently the redditor who caused the suicide (/u/KazeoLion) is a pooner by the name of Marisa Davanzo.

I am leery of animal rescue groups now. The infamous SpindleTop Dog refuge, has made me gun shy.
Hell I'm leery of anything that sounds too good to be true.
There is a dog day care in my area that brands itself as high end.
Two dogs died there, and an employee was mauled to the point they tore her shirt and shoes off.
Finally legal action was taken and while they weren't shut down, they are inspected without warning, and other crap.
The owner pays people off.

All of these off the book, unregulated "rescues" are usually shitshows, unless they operate with full transparency. Otherwise it's simple to put on a clean facade, animals can't give testimony. If one of them is maimed or sick, you can just stop showing them and people will easily forget their existence. IMO the fox rescue wasn't that bad as far as shady animal shit goes, probably better welfare standards than Japan fox village and most pet cafes
Also I can't believe I'm defending a furry pooner but the response is laughably disproportionate for what she did.- it's like getting doxxed and harassed for posting an incomplete lolcow thread. From the husband's own words most of the heckling came from people she knew IRL.

They bred 40 generations of foxes, killing the vast majority of them, to create experimental domesticated foxes. Something like 35,000 fox pups were killed for being the less friendly pups of their litters.

Credit to Joshua Connor Tomar, who found the taxidermist's archive. This image is labeled "Meth Face Mikayla," which raises a lot of questions. There are a few allegations of drug use in those folders, but other than this they're pretty vague. I suppose she might have just had bad skin, but OnlyFans and drug use go together like peanut butter and jelly. You have to wonder if the husband declaring it suicide is because he found her hanging or found a note or something else conclusive, or if he's trying to get in front of a medical examiner calling it an accidental OD.

That’s literally how domestication works. Do you know that the friendly, familiar dog landraces and breeds we love come from years of culling? Do you know in the old days the preferred method was drowning? Does that mean these breeders hated dogs? No, of course not. Just the opposite. An ill-tempered dog cannot be allowed to breed. Have you wondered why there are so many shitbulls in America these days? Thankfully sterilization is more accessible now. We seldom should need to kill puppies to maintain well-tempered dogs. But criticizing a domestication program because animals are killed is absurd. The animals are not endangered, they serve a purpose, and wild animals should not be given away as pets or ‘rescued’ when their work is finished.
At what point does a wild animal need to be rescued? If a deer sits injured by disease or a wolf attack, we should not save it. To fight against nature is absurd. What about being hit by a car? Is natural selection by man any different? The truth is the universe is cruel and the fate of wild animals is surely a young death. And yet here we have millions of years of beautiful and diverse ecosystems on earth. There is no need to interfere.
