Yeah ABC’s bias has been irritating more recently. Indian immigration is a real sore point for them, and they sperg out when anybody mentions it (it’s the new “naming the Jew”). They obviously have it out for Andrew Hastie and wrote a number of bullshit articles about him
Not that they're having much success making anything stick. Pretty much every implicit criticism in this long article from the weekend is of someone else that they want to connect with Hastie, rather than the man himself.

Australia thinks GitHub is as risky for kids as TikTok

GitHub, along with several other platforms, might be damaging to kids, according to Australia’s watchdog. The commission is investigating which companies will need to comply with age restrictions coming into effect in December.

Australia’s eSafety Commissioner has fired off a letter to GitHub, asking the Microsoft-owned code-sharing giant to consider whether it should be treated like a social media platform that endangers children.

Starting December 10th, Australia’s new rules will ban teens under 16 from using certain social media platforms deemed harmful to kids.

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, and X are on the suspect list. But according to ABC News, regulators have also been contacting other platforms, including GitHub, to see if they meet the legal definition of “social network.”

"There are some [cases] that are pretty clear, [but] we still had to give them the due diligence process," eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant said to ABC News.

Instant backlash from internet users

GitHub is a platform primarily for developers to store, share, and collaborate on code. However, some of the platform’s functionalities might resemble a social network. For example, users can comment, interact with each other, and share images.

GitHub has also long been a convenient host for malware, phishing kits, and other shady projects that might harm kids. However, internet users have already ridiculed the decision to include GitHub on the list of restricted platforms.

“Complete lunacy happening in Australia,” wrote X user.

“I guess kids wanting to learn to code will have to do so from outside Australia.”

“I laughed so hard when I saw that. GitHub must be dangerous for kids,” another user on X wrote.

Many X users discussed whether the ban is another means to control open source tool usage.

“My guess is they want to restrict people from downloading open source tools and code that might be used to circumvent their censorship measures, such as VPN, encryption chats, and other freedom tech stuff.”

Roblox, Reddit, TikTok, and others in the list

The eSafety Commissioner’s initial list of potential companies that might need to comply with Australia’s social media age restrictions includes:
  • Meta – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp
  • Snap
  • TikTok
  • YouTube
  • X
  • Roblox
  • Pinterest
  • Discord
  • Lego Play
  • Reddit
  • Kick
  • GitHub
  • HubApp
  • Match
  • Steam
  • Twitch
The 16 companies have been asked to use eSafety's "self-assessment" tool to help determine if their service falls under the new laws. If companies want out of the December ban, they’ll need to formally argue their exemption and provide proof.

The list might also grow bigger, as the eSafety reportedly conducted background research on about 100 different platforms.

So Melbourne once again proves its a massive shithole:

Wild scenes erupt at major police operation in Melbourne CBD, four teenagers arrested after pursuit
Multiple teenagers have been arrested after an alleged dramatic police pursuit through Melbourne’s CBD ended with a pedestrian injured and a foot chase through Bourke St Mall.

Wild scenes have erupted in the heart of Melbourne as a major police operation unfolded in the Bourke St Mall, with four teenagers arrested and a woman injured.

A pursuit came to an end at the Bourke St Mall after the teenagers allegedly dumped the BMW, fleeing on foot.

Video posted to Instagram captures the moment officers pounced on the alleged offenders - surrounding them outside a nearby shop in the popular tourist hotspot and handcuffing them.

Another video captures a tow truck moving onto the scene to take away the dumped BMW.

In a statement, Victoria Police said the vehicle was allegedly being driven erratically on the Eastern Fwy in Doncaster about 12.30pm.

Officers followed the car into the CBD where a female pedestrian was struck on Exhibition St.

The woman was taken to hospital for observation but does not have life-threatening injuries.

The four teenagers were arrested a short time later outside a shopping centre on Lonsdale St after fleeing in the Bourke St Mall.

Two 17-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old from the Bendigo and Yarra Ranges areas are currently being interviewed.

Witnesses told 7 News the car was seen speeding around the corner before pulling up in front of Myer seconds later.

The group of teens were then seen jumping out and speeding off into the shopping centre with their machetes.

Others wondered if the mall was being placed into lockdown with the number of stores shutting their doors.

9 News reports all four teens had a criminal history and three were out on bail at the time of the alleged rampage.

Due to the incident, Route 96 and 86 trams were delayed.

Nah this is fake news. You can tell from this detail:
The group of teens were then seen jumping out and speeding off into the shopping centre with their machetes.
You probably wouldn’t know if you’re from out of state but machetes are illegal here so that kind of stuff can’t happen.

Will I get rich and famous if I just make a news source that for the most part copies the national news but infers the possible race of the various "youths" that commit crimes? I can imagine such a service would be popular since I've seen you can't even say what race the "yours" are on various Australian subreddits nor talk smack on sick cunt immigration rates.

Anyway Australia is a nation that was founded with immigrants so we should let more "youths" in and also use other stuff things this nation were founded on like hangings and all the trappings of inhumane prison conditions in the 1800s. We could even cart them around like they were "convicts" from the 1800s and shackle them to the deck of the boat. Now some might call that slavery like conditions but hey - we need to be accurate to history if we're gonna open up immigration. Sure you can come, you just can't pick how you're going to get here.

Also don't mind the health and safety sign that says most of you will perish on the 6 month journey here where all we feed you is hardtack.

💅🏿

This is true but if Australia only ban GitHub, it could exacerbate the issue. The kind of characters you find on Source Hut (https://sr.ht) or CodeBerg (https://codeberg.org/) are significantly more likely to be trannies or tranny adjacent.
The funniest possible outcome is that they push this shit on Microsoft (owners of GitHub) who tell Australia to get fucked so Australia is forced into a confrontation... so they ban the whole of GitHub and make Australia extremely unattractive for programmers and make all the STEM shit niggers do there totally pointless.

(I always aim for the maximum entertaining outcome)

Rare Australia W. Children should be kept far away from the troon groomer hive that is GitHub.
Everyone should be pro bans for everything.
You know why? Only plebs and normies can't figure out how to get around the ban and we only want our finest shitposters to represent the country.

Looks like this site might be the only place to discuss the current state of Australia without getting derailed. Thanks Josh I probably should I signed up awhile ago. I'm trying to work out why they decided to make a big deal of even plan the divorce of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. If you are unaware of who Nicole Kidman's father was look him up. I think both her public marriages have just been for show. I think they are using it to cover up something they don't want in the News cycle that most likely concerns everyone living here. Just can't figure out what

Just in general. They are doing all the online safety shit. My world view just means I think these secret societies have their hand in every pie. If they don't want you to know about something, they will run interference in the media to keep it buried. I think it goes deeper but surface level discussion is fine.

The globalist ideology that has dominated the West has failed and they see the only option they have is an authoritarian crackdown. Remember, you can't have free speech in a multicultural society.

They think by bringing in mass survallence and censorship, they'll find a way to manage society to fix the problems. They'll outlaw people having bad thoughts. You just have to listen to the bureaucrats. There'll usually be some women talking about how terrible it is that people spread misinformation online. No reflection that you need to be able to spread misinformation online to have a free society. To have a democracy because no one has control of the proof. Yet there'll all in a cult like mindset that there's only one approved way to think.

Commonwealth bank offshoring jobs to India (no surprise there). at least 283, maybe 700 jobs for aussies made redundant and advertised only in india. The jeets fucking strike again. Just like Null said. They either advertise jobs in lunchrooms and cry that they now have to hire their friends in fucking currycity or they just remove our jobs and advertise them only in india.
I despite the jeet so much. I work with some of them. Some are fine, not gonna lie, but the others are the most hated in the workplace. Not even by the white man but everyone fucking hates these fucking jeets.
