XenForo has revoked our license

Markdown has one big flaw, if I am remembering correctly, no underline capability. That, IMO, is sort of a critical function when it comes to using text to transmit ones opinion and other information.
As was pointed out somewhere on the farms(maybe this thread) underline is simply the retarded cousin of italics. In 'real' typesetting they had italics. With typewriters they didn't unless you had a super fancy one, so you just went over the words again typing _ for each letter. Markdown seems to want to only use underlines for links and save italics for the original emphasis meaning.

Why would anyone want to resort to typewriter restrictions? Underline has existed since there was modern word processing software, so somewhere around 40 years. There is no reason not to have it available for text formatting.

Also the convention is that links are always a different color from text, regardless of underlining. Many places on the web today just use different color characters to indicate linking. We can do that here, for example. So, underlining just for links doesn't make any sense, and is quickly becoming obsolete.

Would making a shell corporation to middleman licenses for the farms help?

I'm pretty ignorant about stuff like this, but I just thought I'd share the idea.

Everyone's talking about a kiwifarms forum but what about a kiwifarms metaverse?
How expensive would it be for Null to setup an opensimulator/gmod server?

I also stand by my old posts about how a telnet/ssh bbs would filter normies like nothing else (even if you have to manually download each photo from a post before you can see them).

Null has been working on his own custom forum software for a while (SneedForo). The XenForo fuckery has just accelerated its progress.

Telnet is a pain in the ass to use on mobile devices. It's only usable on a proper computer, which is a good thing as it's an extra layer of normie filtering.

Someone made a Usenet group during the section 230 debacle, for what that's worth.

How's SneedForo going? Any updates?

I was thinking that the community in the vtuber thread might be good as guinea pigs for the forum software before the Farms as a whole uses it. We've been pining for the ability to have separate boards/threads for certain groups/streamers for a while, and if we had our own SneedForo instance, we could do so while at the same time testing and providing feedback on the system prior to the launch of the new KF instance. And if the migration is successful, there's the potential that dozens of anime avatar weebs who found KF through that thread will migrate over there and no longer menace the Farms.

Modern web bloat means some pages load 21MB of data - entry-level phones can't run some simple web pages, and some sites are harder to run than PUBG (archive)

How web bloat impacts users with slow devices (archive)

The slowest device tested, which XenForo failed on:

SneedForo should support African users.

@Null concerning the suspended xenforo license - can you just sign up using a different email address or whatever?

What is stopping you from just registering other XenForo accounts to update shit and install plugins?

Also why don't you try to get your "viewers" to put pressure on XenForo about the suspended license? https://x.com/xenforo - I think you should really do this so you can get the license again to help with improving forum functionality.

It was suspended under very homosexual circumstances and the world has changed significantly since it was suspended - the pendulum has swung the other way and you should take advantage of that fact. "We" managed to get k-farms unblocked on proton by using customer support so you should try to push XenForo to reinstate your license.

I did an internet search and found some XenForo threads covering the k-farms license getting revoked and may help you to understand their position.

Josh is already getting XF updates unofficially.
it's xenforo. google "xenforo nulled". it's what they call the pirate version.
He may have considered reinstating the license, but decided that the effort would be greater than simply getting more done on Sneedforo.
As hinted in this thread's OP, XenForo isn't enough to handle the Farms.
PHP (the language XenForo and many websites are written in) has extreme limitations in dealing with multimedia. I have had to hard-code many customization to get the site to work as well as it does. I have other very serious complaints but I will have to sit down to adequately outline them so that everyone can understand.
Null frequently says that he does not want to work on XF unless when absolutely necessary.

At its best, this incident could serve for USIPS as an example of political censorship.
