Okay, I get why Trump would want Maduro's vice prez to be sworn in. But knowing the Chavista bigwigs are on the loose and probably preparing one last salvo to take over Miraflores via coup, why aren't the US Armed Forces hunting them down, or at least make it clear they'll be butchered if they try something funny.

I want to think they're just letting the colectivos think they can reinstate their regime by force, but this uncertainty is baffling me. What's the point of arresting Maduro but then leave the rest of the fuckers unscathed and willing to fight back?

I think the US is trying to not have to force them. As of now, the US came out looking as good as they could. No casualties, no downed helis. Why take a risk so soon, better wait a little and see how they behave. Chavismo Deadman switch is still armed.

You can make fun of me all you want but I did a pretty decent job of predicting what would happen to Maduro within six months of my post. The only thing I got wrong was that I predicted Maduro was going to be killed. I don't think anyone could have predicted we'd abduct a foreign country's leader and have him in a courtroom in New York in less than three days. It's not a prophecy when you take an educated guess based on past operations and a bit of knowledge on how the military works.

My prediction for Petro is that he'll lose the election on May 31st, try to stay in power, and the military will remove him.
 
I swear to god those irritating pro-Palestine morons changed their label to pro-Maduro overnight it's impossible to look at them and not realize how the whole movement is artificially organized and paid for. This whole "People's forum" needs to be investigated as a foreign threat.
