It is kind of amazing that the media seems to expect such disclosures. It really speaks volumes about information security in previous administrations(including Trump 1.0) that they are shocked by being left in the dark.

It was to be expected, since they know the Democrats will fuck it up next term anyway. They will just kick the can down the road and get to the profits, RN. I don't think a disarming of Chavismo is in bound. They would not allow them to remove their only leverage in negotiations (Being that they can just Kamikaze the country). Trump dodging such a slam dunk questions as "Will you free the political prisoners" tells me all I need to know.

Decided to read a little on Chavez and it is amazing how venezuelans had so many chances to get rid of him, even after he was proven to be a dictator but went "akshually we like him", the 2002 coup being particularly hilarious since he returned within 3 days.
Despite not being Venezuelan, I find it extra upsetting since Chavez is a big reason why all of these lefty populist presidents in south america have largely overstayed their welcome (and were propped up in the first place)

Problem is Venezuela doesn't have any opposition. If it did it would have been over long ago. Trumpnis right, they have no authority and no respect. He means it in real terms. Not in "they have some ballots ergo they can secure governance" like some people think.

If they gave it to Edmundo and Maria Corina now they'd topple over in a milisecond and run away to the first world again. Thats always been the major problem and major obstacle in Venezuela. Not chavismo but the opofiction.

It got so bad the USA rathers just have chavismo negotiating than the blue chavistas they know can't keep a promise and don't have a plan except stealing and fleeing at the first sign of trouble.

I thought they might possibly trying to squeeze out MCM due to the questionable hand over from El Mundo.
