Criminal Law: pretty obvious. It obviously took a few liberties here because a movie trial based on actual criminal procedure would be mind-numbingly boring, but got it right where it was relevant.
What parts were inaccurate instead of boring?

My layman eyes noticed unusual accuracy with arraignment just being "guilty or not guilty" instead of being time for an impassioned speech, and showing the grand jury giving the indictment before the trial jury etc. They have surprise witnesses but mention in the dialogue that this is extremely unusual and the judge is just allowing it for this case.

The only thing I noticed is that the police don't tell the yutes what they're being arrested for and trick him into confessing to murder, but maybe that's more normal than I thought

You would think when the sheriff stated that "the defendant said 'I shot him' " when what he actually said was "I did it" (steal the tuna) he would have stood up and called the sheriff a liar and what he really said. My only complaint with that movie is that the two kids weren't near outraged enough about what was happening to them.

I'm not super demonstrative IRL but if I was accused of capital murder on a blatant railroading case I'd be losing my shit on the daily over stuff like that.

Technically (from memory), the Karate Kid did indeed say "I shot the clerk" twice during the interrogation, but he said it in that Joisey way which sounded like a factual statement to the southerner's ears. That was the plot point that led to the whole movie, the Sheriff was all, "Hang on, when did you shoot the clerk" and the kid went, "I shot the clerk?" but without the audible question mark.

NOW COME Plantiff Retarded INTP, by and through their undersigned counsel, and file this Motion To Sperg to declare that he/him, bizarrely, doesn't give a flying shit about My Cousin Vinny and never will.

Way OT, but Joe Pesci and Marissa Tomei did a comedy album as a Mob husband and his wife, and it's hilarious.

That they omitted a lot of the boring stuff that actually happens. It wasn't so much that anything happened that might not happen in an actual trial. For instance, there was none of the potentially days-long jury voir dire you'd often have in a capital case.

A lot happens in a criminal case that just isn't terribly interesting.

Another one that came up was the grits scene. It's a perfect example of cross examination, including bullying the witness at the right time. It also showed the importance of doing your homework. I doubt Vinny knew anything about grits before the case started.

I love the grits cross examination. He only started eating them because it was what was there to eat in that town. He even used his new knowledge of grits to schmooze with the jury. Just a great scene.

I had to re-watch the segment to see that, but you are correct. Okay, wrong time to jump up and confront the sheriff but those boys were still far too passive with being railroaded into a capital murder trial. Great movie tho!

If it is the album I'm thinking of it was in character as Vinny.

Is there not further correspondence, such as County staff sending this information to Russell and him inevitably asking more questions?

(April 2024 was when the Greer v. Moon case was briefly situated in Florida.)

This is all the records that are available. Many agencies in Clark county and in LV were approached and this is the only result.
