WELCOME TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION V. AMAZON.COM, INC. CASE NO. 2:23-CV-00932-JHC SETTLEMENT WEBSITE
Important Notice to Amazon Prime Members You May Be Entitled to Compensation from a Court-Ordered Settlement.

President Trump’s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has reached a settlement with Amazon.com, Inc. regarding allegations that Amazon violated the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act in connection with Amazon Prime. Amazon settled the case without admitting liability.

About the Case:

On September 25, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington entered a $2.5 billion settlement reached by President Trump’s FTC in the action titled, Federal Trade Commission v. Amazon.com, Inc., et al., Case No. 2:23-cv-00932-JHC.

The FTC alleged that Amazon

Obtained consumers’ billing information before clearly and conspicuously disclosing material terms for Amazon Prime.
Failed to obtain consumers’ express informed consent for Amazon Prime.
Failed to provide simple mechanisms for consumers to cancel Amazon Prime.
Amazon defended the case and did not admit liability in the settlement.

Eligibility and Process to Receive Payments

Under the settlement reached by President Trump’s FTC, refund payments to eligible consumers that subscribed to Amazon Prime will be paid in two groups: (1) the Automatic Payment Group and (2) the Claim Process Payment Group.

Automatic Payment Group

You are eligible for an Automatic Payment if:

1. You are a U.S. consumer who signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025, and

2. You enrolled through a Challenged Enrollment Flow, and

3. You used no more than three Prime benefits in a 12-month period from June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025.

Consumers within this group do not need to take any action to demonstrate their eligibility. Amazon is automatically sending payments to all eligible consumers. Consumers receiving Automatic Payments will be given compensation for Prime membership fees paid during the applicable timeframe up to $51. Automatic Payments are being distributed within 90 days of the court order (by December 24, 2025).

Claims Process Payment Group

The window for filing claims for compensation under the settlement reached by President Trump’s FTC opens on January 5, 2026. If you are eligible, you will receive notice by email and/or post-card by early Febuary. You are eligible for a Claims Process Payment if:

1. You are a U.S. consumer who signed up for Prime, and

2. You unintentionally enrolled in a Prime membership through a challenged enrollment method at issue in the FTC’s lawsuit from June 23, 2019 - June 23, 2025; or you tried to cancel your Prime membership through the online cancellation process from June 23, 2019 - June 23, 2025, but were unable to do so; and

3. You used less than ten Prime benefits (e.g., delivery, shopping, streaming, reading, and other benefits provided to Prime members) during any 12-month period of enrollment in Prime, and

4. You did not receive an automatic payment as part of this Settlement already.

For consumers not eligible for an automatic payment, you may be eligible to submit a claim for payment. If you are eligible to submit a claim, you will receive a notice either by email or in the mail. The notice will provide instructions on how to submit a claim.

To be eligible to receive a Claims Process Payment, you will need to check a box on the claim form if one of the following two categories applies to you: you either (1) unintentionally enrolled in Prime or (2) tried to cancel through the online cancellation flow but were unable to do so. After the claim form is submitted, it will be reviewed for eligibility. Consumers whose claim form is approved will be provided compensation for Prime membership fees paid during the applicable timeframe up to $51.

Amazon agreed to a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to resolve claims that it violated the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act in connection with its Prime membership.

The Amazon settlement benefits consumers who signed up for Amazon Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and who either enrolled through a challenged enrollment flow and used no more than three Prime benefits in any 12-month period during that time or unintentionally enrolled through a challenged enrollment method or attempted to cancel their Prime membership through the online cancellation process but were unable to do so.

Eligible consumers must have used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during any 12-month period of unintentional Prime enrollment and must not have already received an automatic payment under the settlement.

Retail giant Amazon offers a Prime membership that provides benefits, such as free shipping, access to Prime Video and other perks.

According to the FTC, Amazon violated the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act by failing to provide clear and conspicuous disclosures of the material terms for its Prime membership before obtaining consumers’ billing information.

The post from @BROKENBRITAIN0
claiming "The U.S is set to BLOCK Ofcom completely from regulating American firms" with a "senior member from the White House" calling it "anathema" to the First Amendment is misleading and exaggerated, bordering on misinformation in how it's presented. There is real tension between the US (especially under the current administration) and UK/Ofcom over the Online Safety Act's attempts to apply rules extraterritorially to US-based platforms with no UK presence (e.g., cases involving 4chan, Kiwi Farms, and threats to others like X or Reddit). US officials, lawmakers, and companies have repeatedly pushed back, citing First Amendment protections and refusing to comply with Ofcom fines or orders on US soil. However, no evidence exists of any official White House statement or decision to "block Ofcom completely" in the sweeping, definitive way the post describes. Searches across news sources, official White House/government sites, and recent X discussions show:No matching White House quote or press release using "anathema" in this context tied to Ofcom.
US actions have included lawsuits (e.g., 4chan/Kiwi Farms suing Ofcom in US court to block enforcement), congressional hearings criticizing foreign regs as threats to American speech/innovation, visa bans on some EU officials involved in similar rules, threats of tariffs/retaliation against discriminatory foreign measures, and statements from senators/Trump allies vowing non-enforcement of foreign censorship orders.
Ofcom has asserted jurisdiction over services accessible to UK users (even via VPN), but US parties treat those demands as unenforceable in America.

The post copies phrasing from viral UK accounts (e.g., @PolitlcsUK
or similar) that sensationalize ongoing disputes into a "breaking" total victory/block. Replies and related threads treat it as hype or wishful thinking rather than confirmed policy. Some users call similar versions "not real" or lacking traction (e.g., no bill advancing in Congress to outright "block" Ofcom). In short: The underlying friction is genuine and has led to real US resistance (lawsuits, warnings, potential trade pressure), but the claim of an imminent/complete block by the US/White House is overstated and unsupported by primary sources. It's classic rage-bait amplification of a legitimate debate.

"In China, a snow leopard attacked a tourist who wanted to take a selfie with it.
The girl was skiing, saw the snow leopard and couldn't think of anything smarter than to approach it and take a selfie.
As soon as the girl got close, the wild cat pounced on her and took a bite out of her face. Fortunately, the girl was rescued by passers-by.

A candidate for the Darwin Award."
She turned her back to the wild cat. I know they're adorable but they're ambush predators, so they see your back and see an opening. What happened to her is the expected result.

You cannot argue, that is a really great selfie!
Unironically worth it

I would appreciate hearing Josh's opinion on this... What do they call Kraft singles and other fake cheese? "Pasteurized prepared cheese product?" We need a soulless government name for this fake meat.
Honestly, if you had ever been witness to the conditions that pigs and meat cattle are kept in at large scale, and seen the industrial slaughtering process, and the overall procedure by which the sausage is made, you'd opt for the lab meat.

Fun fact about this. Lab grown meat is actually produced by duplicating cancer cells. Because cancer cells grow exponentially it's actually the most efficient way to produce lab grown meat. And they've lobbied hard to avoid having to put this on the packaging.

there are many things that need to be erased

Actually I would opt for deporting browns and promoting healthy living so torturing animals to fry their meat into nuggets wouldn't be necessary

It feels very good to see these guys suffer under their own rules trying to get firearms.
It's always amusing seeing anti gun people discover there might be reasons to want to own guns and then buy them. Like they never put two and two together that maybe it's a bad thing for the state to limit your ability to have these.
This meme stolen from the Mega gun thread perfectly shows it

How much you want to bet a lot of them failed the 4473 due to being in a mental hospital?

Random thing I stumbled across, a bit old but still worth a look over imo.

TLDR Rust tournament hosted by kick, they invite a joke youtuber on in a game full of PVPers, he is winning so at multiple point the admins ban their tactics, change the rules and eventually spawn in nukes because the other players can't beat their base design.

They get ahead fish farming admins break the vending machine (3.58)
They get ahead by gambling, admins ban gambling (5:13)
He constructs a ton of barricades, admins tell him not to place any more (8:25)
The other teams try to raid their base, fail, admins announce a surprise spawning of nukes, that apparently just wipe out entire bases? they get nuked and lose (12:25)

All of the comments are complaining about the event being rigged

Reddit thread complaining about the event

Video of an admin berating them for not playing how they want them to play

Idk if there are more informed people on this that play rust, but seems for some peak evil eddy rigging the game content.

Here is my contribution to next show.

Source from Telegram:
Even though they are called snow leopards, their closest genetic relatives are tigers, and they behave similarly. Wildlife photographers stake out on mountains for months for a single shot of a snow leopard, so I wonder if tourists in the area had been leaving food wrappers or trash that enticed the leopard down the mountain for an easy meal.
