Jake / Alex were like 18-20yo starting at LTT doing silly mistakes like inexperienced ppl do and record the fuck ups on video for entertainment. Pretending to be engineer is pretty much what any prototyping is, granted someone with 20 year experience or co-workers teaching doesn't fuck up as much.

Jake was a bit of a nonse at LTT but his own video subjects are actually pretty decent vs LTT slop. Looking at youtube analytics he seems to get 15-60% of LTT views on his own now.

Patreon tranny does literally nothing and isn't intresting.

Per the Hardware Unboxed video where they make excuses for LTT on screen turnover problems, there was a reddit thread for it that mysteriously got deleted after 4 days for Rule #1 "Not relevant to LTT" and Rule #8 "Politics".

The OP of that post only noticed after manually checking on it, received no mod mail of it being deleted, which has led others to checking posts they've made and seeing that their threads too are being deleted after suspiciously long times with no mod mail being sent or mod mail sent days after, which isn't normal for LTT sub.

Makes you wonder if it's the faggot himself stealth deleting shit and then the other mods are looking at logs to see what he's doing and then sending notices.

I will say you're not wrong. Jake fucked himself by staying so long, but the boat was so comfortable until he started doing basic research. The fact it literally took a third house to make him critical is a shocker.

Retaliation short of dismissal is difficult to prove, and very few people have the resources to actually fight it. And in small company situations, its VERY easy to weaponize HR complaints to freeze someone out. Someone seniors treating you badly and reports it? Ok, we'll make sure the two of your don't interact anymore. Except now that means that you're just not invited to any of the planning with senior staff, allocation, etc. You'll be safely separated in this corner where you can't meaningfully advance and your contributions aren't noticed, but that's because HR takes this separation of you from a problem person very seriously.

I don't remember the freezing out stuff, but I blurred most of miss internet fav's arc out of my brain for my own sake, so it probably got flushed with that.

It can be lonely at the top (of shit mountain but still the top). Socialize and make friends with people of a similar role in the world and vent in private about being blamed for X Y or Z. Again, why is this so hard?

Content creators follow a bell curve of quality. They start out pretty shit but have drive and potential. They reach maturity with quality videos and an actual budget, but it all goes to their heads and the videos nosedive in quality and return to shit due to complacency and ego. Some channels escape this fate (e.g. GamersNexus, Rossman) but most do not.
