It has to be the potential visit from the police. I doubted from the moment he said "they laughed at what they saw" when he wrote, OR (s)he found out something more fucked up (CSAM?).

My summary:
He found out his wife was cheating on him with his best friend of 10 years, this cheating went on for years. Despite this, his wife was the one to end the relationship. He nearly drank himself to near death near a pond in the middle of no where, but a friend called A wellness check on him and Chibi was hospitalized. He lost his friend group because they didn't really care about his friend cucking him, so he cut them off.
