I legitimately think M2K killed brawl harder than nintendo, he's one of the two big reasons Meta Knight wasn't banned (The other being of course 'We want japan to like us) because he was the TOP guy even if he was playing to win in the least entertaining ways constantly.

I'd at this point rather see aMSa focus on his job and family since he has a son now and has already cemented himself as a legend for giving Yoshi success. If SSBM enters another dark age, so be it.

He deserves that well earned break off his performances from 2022-2023 alone, aMSa can take as much time as he likes.

i am so fucking bored of cody winning, he plays such an invariant style and his drugs make him so executionally consistent that there's no interesting changes of fortune when he plays, and the community seems to be cursed to let him go on strong loser's runs if it means melee is made less interesting by it

soonsay being dominant would be far healthier for the community

on the upswing, i do think that zain vs rapm and n0ne vs zumpers are the most interesting storylines melee has had in a while and i'd love a salty suite between n0ne and a no-zump cody

dude I love RapM and I can't wait to see what he's gonna be up to this year, genuinely has me interested in Melee again lmao

Don't forget the notches. Cody always goes for that barely downward angled recovery that people can't cover because he knows there's no risk of him missing the angle and killing himself. It's infuriating to watch him constantly live to over 150% because his controller makes him impossible to edgeguard.

That and free perfect wavedashes, it's just more fun to say zump as a catchall. Probably also has his triggers filed down, bald buttons and all the rest.

I do believe the only times I've gotten interested in Melee is when the characters being played aren't the ones considered top tier. (Yoshi, DK, and now Luigi). RapM is fun to watch.

in the hypothetical situation that both Melee and Ultimate fall out of relevance and all the big tournaments shut down because of the community's incompetence, what would happen from there?

Would Rivals of Aether try and fill the hole that Smash left? Would people move on to the FGC or other competitive scenes? Would Hungrybox live past 35?
