A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Fcks sake.

Extremely pissed off Blind Person's opinion incoming.

Boring PL.
I've never been offered or asked for any Government help when setting up my businesses (I run 2 businesses) because I thought it was a case if If you want to be self employed or run a business, it's your responsibility for the costs in setting it up, not anybody else's.

It doesn't matter if you are disabled or not. If you want to set up a business, you have to provide the money to do so.

I didn't even know such a thing existed. Sounds like I've been doing it all wrong. Instead of working my arse off I should have asked the council for some money for someone to do it all for me.

Soft water can be funny as well if I remember right
I don't think there's any drawbacks but ours just fucking tastes bad.
I underlined the bit that is them trying backdoor more control in for our Orwellian state.
This also destroys the ability to repair anything too btw. If your battery on your phone is shit you now have to pay apple several hundred gret briish qwids to get it fixed instead of £20 to some baldie that does it in front of you in 5 minutes. Amazing that they really want to try and use the 'think of the children' approach to fucking phone theft too, remember when sadiq shut down grooming gang investigations?
I’m disabled – the DWP cut my work support funding by £50,000 with 17 days’ notice
Yea cool mate and my back hurts can I get someone to do all the brick laying for me and give me fucking double my salary on top of that for fun? Last I checked blind people can read pretty well, we invented an entire physical version of the language for them to use and fucking text to speech software has existed for longer than most people in this thread.
You wanted to like annoying retards? I guess we'll done, mission accomplished, then.
I mean that is essentially the only job of ofcom already, even before the osa shit. Same for advertising standards. Ofcom were the retards that will stop songs being played on a radio for all sorts of arbitrary reasons yet would refuse to do anything about thousands of complains when a literal fucking convicted murderer made a song about how he loved killing the other person and does not feel any remorse and that got played everywhere on the radio. Can't have political songs they disagree with but you can have some nigger singing about beating women and doing drugs all day long. They didn't suddenly become retarded they've been that way for decades. Potentially the first two tier system we have.

Might not always see the world in the same light but it's always nice to hear someone else's views.
Well at least I can't be accused of seeing the world through Rose Tinted Lenses!

Love my KiwiFrens.

Yeah, It's Friday, It's been a shit week, I've fallen headfirst into some booze and weedchoc.

Other way around, you use less soap with soft water.
We don't have a Restore candidate here so looks like it's a Reform vote for May. The people here tend to vote for the same guy regardless so I'm not particularly hopeful.
It's depressing AF isn't it? I'm floored so many people here are for restore tbh. It's caught me off guard a bit.

I get voting for the same person if they're a good candidate but my experience of Scottish politics was ropey. I'll admit though, I enjoyed the wailing and gnashing of teeth late 2014. It was hilarious.

I do still love Scotland though. It's beautiful in parts, and I really loved my time in Edinburgh. I left in 2015, and went back in 2019 to visit, but going way up to Caithness last year really reminded me of how beautiful a country it is, and how much I hope and pray the whallopers in charge don't flood it with boat vermin. In our stay we didn't see a single black or paki and it was great. Inverness, when compared to the big cities near us, was beautiful and the last stretch of the drive from there to Caithness was stunning.

Razzing aside, I hope Scotland gets a better devolved Parliament which puts the Scottish people first, and is hell bent on looking after the place because it's truly wonderful and worth protecting.

I'm afraid to tell you that Inverness has fallen. They currently have Afghanis at the barracks, and are planning to bring in another 300 immigrants. The barracks are right in the middle of town, in a housing estate, and the locals are raging.
The council are managing to hold off the Home Office by claiming the barracks need refurbishment before they can accept the new immigrants, but it's just a matter of time.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Hopefully a good winter will sort the fuckers out. My first one in Edinburgh was that bad one in 2010-2011 and I hated it. Cold, snow, damp, ice.and to boot we were living in the new town,so no double glazing or central heating, just storage heaters and a range in the living room. We eventually cracked and had that serviced and it made all the difference. It had a back boiler as well which was wonderful. Would cook jacket spuds and casserole in the oven compartment.

I'd say if the middle classes and their kids get culturally enriched they might start to turn on the mystery meat bastards, but for whatever reason, they've enough cunning to not go for them, and as we've seen round these parts, nobody gives a toss if some lass from an estate is raped, groomed and trafficked. I've a mate who completed an LLB at a Norf FC University and is now practicing corporate law. But, for his degree he had to work and was involved in some of the trials to do with Keighley. He was absolutely sickened by what he saw and heard in it all. People overlook Keighley but what happened there was on a par with Rotherham and Rochdale.

They will just sell up and move else where.

Scotland is in many ways worse off than England. 300 pakis doesn't dent an average town here. But in Scotland, everything is so much smaller and 300 people is a big change. They are much less capable of absorbing the numbers and end up fully replaced.

They're not moving them into towns, they're moving them between smaller settlements when the offending becomes impossible to conceal. And when of those 300 are 90% men in their early 20s who view women as objects then it makes a substantial impact on a population that isn't really able to cope with 270 rapists.

There are a lot of migrant hotels in Scotland. But Scotland has the problem where it had a lot of cheap housing that was easy to snap up. Poor country got fucked for not having London house prices.

Access to work is doomed to die; it was set up to support those getting to their jobs. They do not budget accordingly, and the new wave of illegals is sapping the social security pot. I was offered access to work years ago for my office job, but I refused as taxis are usually driven by rapists. That was all I was offered, this woman, however was clearly asking for way too much.

True, I should have clarified that they're not just moving them into towns.

Something I found on Twitter today. Nigger Muslims protesting that an Indian eatery doesn't serve Halal-meat and making nuisances of themselves in the process. Every demographic in this video shouldn't have been here in the first place, but alas.

Oh, that's Rangrez in Hammersmith. The owner, Harman Singh Kapoor, spends a lot of time trolling Muslims - in part in the hopes of appealing to the Tommy Robinson brigade, who he joins on marches, but mostly because he's got the classic "Indian who hates Pakistanis" thing going on

Surprisingly he's Sikh rather than a Modi-pilled Hindu, but he also has gotten in multiple spats with the Sikh community for insulting the Khalistan (Sikh separatist) movement
