Pat's obsession with truth and incarceration is ironic considering he operates on a flimsy pile of lies that underpins every facet of his worthless existence. Obfuscation and deceit come naturally to the cow, but Pat makes it his defining characteristic. It's even funnier that this guy sells himself as an author when he is a terrible storyteller and couldn't fabricate one of his tough tales to make it sound remotely believable if his life depended on it.

Correct. Coincidentally, I am reading Absolution, the multi-award-winning debut novel by a Patrick (Flanery) who knows how to write, which includes transcripts from South African TRC hearings. Pat is a moron.

BTW that Patrick is an American novelist who splits his time between Australia and London but doesn’t put on mockney affectations à la Tomlinson. He’s physically fit, handsome and stylish. Unfortunately his bio doesn’t tell us whether he has a fat dyke wife, houseplants, scooters or a V6 hairdresser car.

While yes it is a misquote, it comes from a 1993 article. Orwell did say something similar in the Notes of Nationalism essay he wrote
