A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

BBC has yet another pedo scandal. Beloved CBBC TV presenter was pulling a Jim'll fix it. All his charity work was just getting close to kids. Few tried to spill the beans in the 80s but no one believed the sick stuff he did was real. Some gross body horror shit went down and the police covered it up AGAIN. Yes, that is exactly what this means. It also doesn't actually matter anyway, as the police have been told multiple times to stop doing X and stop doing Y and they don't give a shit and carry on doing it. They were told a dozen times now to stop using the 'Non Crime Hate Incident' system because it's something that turns up on background checks and is hilariously violating of your civil rights. But they don't care. We quickly and unpleasantly returning to a pre-peel policing structure.

So, the freedom of speech thing, I have heard from a friend who works with the Conservatives that they were pulling back from the Online Safety Act due to costs, but also because VPNs just erode it. I talked to my former boss at my IT job, who is quite high up in the IT world, and when Kyle tried to nix VPNs, the weapon companies and GCHQ told them to fuck off and, behind closed doors, called them insane. I actually believe this because a friend in a weapons company basically said the same thing. On top of that, the Digital ID push has been a monumental failure. Starmer thinks he can manifest something, but does not understand that the civil service is on its knees financially and logistically.

As for the Police thing, I suspect it's because a strike is coming, or massive cuts. I have said this for a while, but the police are practically on their knees, too. There are a lot of people leaving, and they are trying to plug a 1 billion hole. I also suspect financially good old Rachel is syphoning A SHIT LOAD of money into maintaining the immigration costs. I have heard their numbers, and they don't sound right. Rachel was caught last year syphoning money from the education department into immigration hotel funding.

You're spot on. Nothing will change, they've said the same thing time and time again. "non hate hate speech" means fuck all.

You don't need to hunt or do vermin control. You can just join a gun club (which you probably should anyway so you know how to clean it and handle it safely) and put "target shooting" as the reason.

This fits what I can see from far away, this is not a "you're safe now" to the chuds, it's a "we can't look into this now" to the woke. They want a convenient excuse to NOT be doing something, not a reason to do something else.

Which means important people are asking uncomfortable questions so they're attempting to patch the hole.

It's not bad news, it might be indicative of good news somewhere, but it may also mean that the problems are getting so bad they have to do something or the Britler will rise to power overnight.
