Crime "Where is your daughter!?" screams deranged man during an attempted home invasion - Jason Thomas Nichols, 29, arrived on the doorstep of a resident of Fairfield demanding to speak to the homeowner's daughter.

On the morning of April 7th, 2026, a man identified as 29-year-old Jason Thomas Nichols arrived at the doorstep of a Fairfield resident at around 9:06 am, donned in a trench coat and sandals.

"Hello," greets the homeowner via Ring camera.

"Hi, can you open this door, please?" Nichols requests bluntly. Perplexed, the homeowner asks him to elaborate.

"I don't know, man, I just... figured I'd check on something," Nichols responds vaguely, his hands in his pockets. Suspicious of the strange man's intent, the homeowner denies him entry. Suddenly, Nichols lands a kick on the door, stumbling backward while insisting that the man on the other side open the door.

"Where's your daughter, man?" Nichols repeats as he leans his fist against the entrance, "open this fucking door, or I'm breaking it fucking down." The man on the other end urges Nichols to leave.

"Is everyone in the house okay?" asks Nichols as he knocks on the front door. The man on the other end confirms that everyone is fine and reaffirms that he needs Jason to leave. Nichols responds, "My name is Harry Dresden, and this is my neighborhood motherfucker."

After a prolonged silence, Nichols threatens to "end" the homeowner if he continues to deny him entry. He takes hold of a small bell on the wall to his right and rings it with such force that it detaches. He then begins to whip the door with the bell's chain in rapid succession.

"OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR, OR I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU," Nichols screams, continuing to question if she, the homeowner's daughter, is okay. He begins to attack the Ring camera, and the video ends.

On that same day, Nichols was apprehended by the Fairfield Police Department and booked into the Justice Center Detention Facility on counts of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats with intent to terrorize, and vandalism. His bond has been set at $35,000. He is scheduled to have his first court appearance on April 13th at 1:25 pm PDT.

My god, you could not pick a more quintessentially Reddit thing to think was badass and try to imitate in real life.

Ironically the series has many things Reddit wouldn't enjoy such as God and Jesus being real and a love for the second amendment. You can also tell over the course of the series that the author grows as a person after he became a family man.

Yeah it's a mindless reading series I think I read some 10+ years ago 2-3 of the books before I dropped it. There was a crappy TV series about it as well. At this point its a series that I think is 25+ years old so why this guy is pretending to be the main character is beyond me.

It's one of these first person urban fantasy books where the wizard uses a hockey stick instead of a wand, carries a gun, trenchcoat, has a skull he talks to. I'm realizing writing this that this sounds very lame. I remember reading it, thinking it was fine/decently entertaining and then probably forgetting about it some 2 weeks later.

I think it's because Dresden is a fuckup nerd but the plot requires him to be special. It's probably coming from the same place that has caused the popularity of isekai animes.

I think this guy would be more successful at getting pussy by emulating Dresden if he adopted a grouchy old Maine Coon instead of whatever this incident was.

Last known address had him in Concord, CA actually outside San Francisco. Still expensive. Mom living in Visalia. With the hubby having a winery in NorCal who knows, maybe they are well off and let this idiot waste away in one of their secondary properties?

I never looked into the father. Looks like the son was a nerd but his last job was in granite so maybe failed IT autist?

I mean, I did forget to mention the password list his email was attached to was passwords for PornHub Premium lol

The ring camera footage of a man supposedly named Harry Dresden is going viral on the internet. The video showed the man's outburst in front of a house in Fairfield, California, on Apr. 7. He identified himself as Harry Dresden and asked the homeowner where his daughter was.

As the owner refused to answer, Harry Dresden threatened to break the door and "end" him. Dresden also asked "who was in there" and whether everyone inside was okay.

In the viral clip, the man screamed, broke the doorbell, and kicked the door, demanding that the homeowner open it. At one point, Harry mentioned that he lived in the neighborhood, which was not true, as the man inside confirmed that he had never seen Harry before.

The viral ring cam man is not named Harry Dresden. He was arrested on Apr. 7 by the Fairfield Police Department, and his real name is Jason Thomas Nichols. Harry Dresden is the name of the protagonist from the novel series The Dresden Files. Written by Jim Butcher, Harry is a male wizard who works as a private investigator.

It is worth noting that the fictional character wears a long coat, and similarly, Jason showed up at the house wearing a long black coat. The 30-year-old man is currently in custody at Solano County jail.

The jail records show that Nichols has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, first-degree burglary, terrorizing, and vandalism. Jason's bail is $35,000, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Apr. 13.

Netizens reacted to the man claiming to be Harry Dresden​

While some internet users mocked Jason Thomas Nichols' appearance and made memes, others claimed that if he turned up in their house, they would have shot or hit him in self-defense. One netizen even pointed out his supposed similarity to actor Eugene Levy.

This image reminds me, nostalgically, of The Dog Artlist Collection. Does anyone else remember them? From the early 2000s? Those sort of super stylised, fisheye lense extreme closeups on dogs, with the big noses? They had a range of superdeformed cuddly toys, and a McDonalds tie-in promo and everything.

I first became aware of The Dresden Files through TV Tropes, because all of the tropers were jizzing their tighty-whiteys over it. It encapsulates everything that a TV Tropes user would think was Epic and Badass and Awesome, and there were so many entries about it in Crowning Moment Of Awesome and Magnificent Bastard and Badass Longcoat and all those other sorts of cringey pages singing its praises.

And I remember reading them and even then thinking it sounded like the lamest, gayest fucking shit I'd ever heard.

There is no way this man makes enough to afford the neighbourhood and no way its not a nepo earned do nothing position where they keep him away from people and give him busy work. This behaviour doesn't just happens all of a sudden unless he has had sudden onset of schizophrenia or psychotic breadown. Nobody lasts this long at any job beyond minimum wage ones with those sort of issues . His mother's books point to ever escalating issues because nobody ever held him accountable. Not the school, not his parents not his wrangler. This is what you get when boomers refuse to cut their failsons off and let them sink or swim . I guarantee you if you are sleuthing the arrest records he had at very least complaints filed against him that were either ignored or his family lawyer managed to get buried and dismissed. The only reason he is even in jail due to viral video showing how much entiteled and deranged this man is .
