Dude that's weird. Council houses here are for the chronically ill or where you've left home at 18 after a few months of working here and there, offices and steel toe and low grade work but you can get by just about by renting cheap homes. Then something maybe bad happens, medically and you need some time off , but you've paid into the system for a few years (this happened to me, well about a deccade on and off with different jobs) but yeah something happens where you can't work for a while. Well you paid in so you earned your house. if its new generally it isn't too bad but it's usually the company that causes the problem. for example a woman who got her child taken away kept getting blackout drunk and her bf would hit all the fire alarms on the way out. this was when I was still able to partially work so being woken at 3am when you're up at 5am for your shift is hell.He has a master's degree in law (not a solicitor because no solicitor firm would ever apprentice him) so he knows how to word things. He's also indigent and lives in council housing.
What I'm trying to say is its there to serve a purpose but I'm sure just like in America its abused by certain types of people who have no inclination to work at all.
How somebody can earn a law degree here and not be in reasonable gainful employment is just beyond me, why choose council housing. the second I can, I will leave this hell.
Mind you, some people love living in these conditions each day is like a mini real life Jerry springer show where they don't realise they're just as bad.
Also if you're cognizant of UK politics too right now the stress is almost too much to bare.
I think this thread / cow may be too depressing or familiar for me.
