Furry Fandom and Drama General

Of course it's fucking pup play people. EVERY major con this debate comes up. "Are pup masks fetish wear? Should people wear them in the lobby?"

Many in that community insist they are NOT fetish wear. SJW-types will insist that if pup masks are fetish wear, all fursuits are fetish wear and that furry itself is a fetish. Most people don't care as long as... Stuff like this isn't happening. It's not hurting anyone and nobody's doing anything...

And then they go do stuff like this.

Not helping your case, guys...

All the chastisement and pearl clutching coming from the furries is pretty amusing. Their entire "movement" is just a poorly disguised fetish and they get upset about bad PR because some idiots were grinding in the lobby of a hotel. Because walking around in gear you bought from Mr. S and slapped on with your sexualized outfits would be so much more different.

Motherfuckers got mountains of porn on sale and rooms full of dildos, hordes of guys in bondage gear with their fursuits and other sexualized costumes and fucking terrabytes of furry porn on every electronic device they own. But no, the two faggots in kinky dog masks fucking on the floor are the ones setting a bad example to normies about furries.

Nobody thinks furries are just innocent costume enthusiasts, we all know what it's about and some trashy retards humping on a hotel rug aren't the lynchpin that will end up souring everyone's opinion of furries. They're weird fetishists and should start acting like it. At least then the hotel could cordon off the entire hotel, block the windows and fucking warn people about the event before they decide to venture in.
This fake ass image that furries try to project and inflate (lol) pisses me off about as much as their degenerate behavior does.

The adult shit sold at cons is in strictly adult only sections of the cons (usually, unless FWA is different). I think that's why people are so pissed. The difference between keeping your fetishes private vs airing them out in a public place where unsuspecting random people might stumble across it (or exposing kids to it).

The cons I've been to have had adult content readily available or at least had content alluding to it but it was obvious to anyone that there was adult content for sale.

I remember one "dealer's den" where some guy in a fursuit (because it's almost always a dude) was playing with a child and not 20 yards away there was porn to buy at a booth that hid the images behind little cardboard dividers. And next to them was some vendor selling a comic book series about a tiny dragon that always wound up in sexually suggestive situations because he was a fucking tiny dragon and all the other dragons were bigger. It's hilarious to recall as I type this out but disgusting when I really think about it. It was fucking ridiculous and it's insulting to anyone's intelligence for these people to suggest that their fandom is anything but a weird new age fetish.

Obviously two people fucking on the floor of a major hotel is beyond unacceptable behavior. I just think it's ridiculous for them to get all indignant about what this will do for their image as a group when there are so many other reasons to dislike their fandom.

Yeah FWA has the adult vendors in a separate room. This also happened in the middle of the day too, which made it even more jarring.

Rumor has it the two guys involved got arrested.

The sad thing is FWA is held in the Marriott of Dragoncon fame, so I'm sure shit just as bad and worse has happened in that hotel before.

Apparently the not-fucking in public was bad enough for YouTube to pull it. Does it still work so that if it just gets flagged enough it can be taken down automatically?

I forgot to archive the YouTube comment salt, but here's some twitter

The video on Youtube last I saw had some dozens of dislikes and a good number of comments along the lines of how it's inappropriate, damaging to the fandom's image, there are children at the event. Some criticizing the video poster as the description said they had found a quiet place where no one was around but they were on the floor in the commons area of a major hotel with people walking directly by. So on and so forth. But the poster was not engaging so there was nothing particularly exciting going on.

It appears this guy is associated with Murrlin Fox(1) (from what I can tell from the twitter posts, the other guy in the video), a name I've known in passing but never been that close to. According to some people one guy he is bad news. Do we know anything about this?

Rocko attended Megaplex XV (2016). On August 7, following the conclusion of the convention, Rocko tweeted "I'm fucked uppppppppp!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3"[3][4] and early on August 8,[5] because he "wanted to kill (himself) on (a) bad trip",[3][4] proceeded to jump from one the hotel balconies. (Sources variously claimed a fall of either four or seven storeys.)[4]

Rocko survived the fall and was transported to a local medical facility,[5] but was left in intensive care with the "left side of (his) body paralyzed".[6] His injuries were later specified as "Broken arm, broken back, fractured ankles, broken ribs."[7]

I was thinking about going through and finding the posts where he talks about the event and the aftermath, but he posts on twitter way too fucking much.

I can't find anything online for "murrlin"+"rocko" or "rocko the fox". There's a Vivisector thread:

The sad thing is FWA is held in the Marriott of Dragoncon fame, so I'm sure shit just as bad and worse has happened in that hotel before.

If some of the stories I've heard about D*C are even the slightest bit true, then yeah, a couple deviants pounding each other in creepy costumes in public is probably another con that falls on a day that ends in 'Y' for the staff of that Marriott.

For real, tho', outside of D*C (which really isn't a comic con, per se), I don't think comic/pop culture conventions have nearly as bad of a reputation when it comes to public indecency and wildness. Sure, anime cons come pretty close, but those are basically parties for hormonal teenagers and/or pre-teens on the cusp of puberty, so there's some rowdiness to be expected from them (Katsucon, anyone?). SDCC has been around long before the internet, so maybe there's stories that have been lost to time there.

But unless I'm missing some huge example, none of the comic/pop culture conventions that I'm aware of have had their attendees do shit so egregious enough that it gets them banned from hotel after hotel (or in the case of Rainfurest, every single hotel in an entire city and the next city over) the way furry cons do. Chalk it up to furry being a sexual fetish for some, I don't know.

ETA: And before someone says 'Dashcon, tho'', Dashcon was doomed from the start, so it doesn't count.

There's been some fun shit going down at FWA this year. For starters, the con decided to go with instead of merely only conventional badges, RFID wristbands that can "check" your con status, possibly in an attempt to stop ghosting since the con organizers hate ghosters (a lot of older posts on this blog which came up in another thread mention FWA). You're not allowed to remove them whatsoever, and removing them might cause them to rip causing them to be "void". Due to this, it's been met with a negative reception.

However, even worse was the extremely long wait line for those who pre registered, moving about as slow as Atlanta's gridlock traffic.

What are they whining about? That they can't have a 5th entry-badge around their neck with a meme nametag on? Do they interfere with their yiffles?

you go to conventions to meet up with friends buy porn and attend panels then go up to the hotel rooms and get smash out fucking wasted
Basically. That's why the panels are an absolute joke and only there for people with no friends or plans but go to the con anyway. Half the time I see furries mention having one, it's always some "Lmao im wasted and here anyway why not, here's how to draw inflation".

It's honestly baffling this doesn't seem abnormal to them. I'm fairly used to seeing random porn left and right on social media, but to bring that shit out into public and act as if it's normal is just too messed up. I remember reading of younger furs bringing their parents (who do other shit in the city meanwhile) and feel all excited about being part of a community. Meanwhile: Yiffyvixen9 is at xe 6th con that year, looking to buy porn and dildos in broad daylight. Because.. Ordering it online is a no-go?

The stories you've heard about Dragoncon are probably true, honestly its almost less a con and more Nerdi Gras. The Marriott in particular is probably the main hotel shit goes down in too, that and the Hyatt. People fucking out in the open is almost certainly something that's happened at DC many times.

Unless the Marriott decides to be really dicky I doubt FWA will get booted because of it, especially since from what I understand the con threw out the guys and possibly even had them arrested. Other hotels might give them the axe, but I think what's arguably the most infamous Dragoncon hotel probably has more tolerance for fucked up con behavior than most.

panels can be about anything, you just have to have something to present or talk about. there's comedy panels fairly often and they tend to be a pretty good time.

also any panel involving people being very, very drunk is worth your time.

Man, the last furry con that had this much drama was the last Rainfurrest. Really interested to see how FWA's administration team deals with all of this.
FWA's staff as far as I know is at least good about banning troublemakers unlike Rainfurrest. Not sure how they'll handle the other issues but at least the dudes who were fucking in the middle of the Marriott probably won't be coming back (and permanently banning people and filling charges if possible is about all any con can do in that situation).

Interesting about the creeper, though at least someone actually alerted authorities. The police getting involved makes me think something serious happened.

The two involved definitely weren't arrested, and have been fanning the flames on Twitter by being huge edgelords about this, along with their weirdo pup buddies jumping in to defend their actions.

I've also noticed they're really pushing the 360 video they shot, which makes me think they knew EXACTLY what they were doing and what it looked like, and needed to have some hard evidence that it was only "roughhousing".

Yeah them being arrested was just a rumor. I hope they at least got their badges pulled, they definitely seem like deliberate troublemakers (granted they can still ghost the con in theory. Ideally though they'd be permanently blacklisted and thrown out on sight).

Someone earlier posted something about them getting up to shit at other cons, wonder if they're been banned anywhere else?

I checked the late last night/early this morning and there were hundreds of dislikes and a lot of comments of people denouncing it. It had a grand total of 11 likes, probably from the more retarded individuals in the fandom who see nothing wrong with putting fetishes in a public place. Shame it got taken down, I was interested in seeing the salt continue to accrue.
