The reason why the sim card isn't working is because he is taking a service that is meant for free government phones and trying to put it on a device that is meant to be paired with a real phone plan. The phones that the government program gives you are very basic, barely a step above a flip phone. They are limited on minutes/data, and that conversion doesn't generally go well when you try to pair that with a device that is meant to be for unlimited everything...yeah. It doesn't take a genius to see what happens.
As far as the company blocking him goes, I absolutely believe it. Many of the employees are not even in the US for the government program, and I can imagine him spazzing and sending message after message after message to the company through Facebook. It Is a free program that he is trying to use on an iphone, instead of the originally intended phone. It is so amusing watching him sperg about wanting to spend money when he self-admitted to spending around 800$ on his failed iphone attempt this last week.
