The upcoming film 1Up explores sexism within the world of competitive gaming and finds Ruby Rose playing the coach of a college esports team.
The trailer for 1Up is offering a first look at Ruby Rose's latest film, which centers around the world of competitive gaming. Directed by Kyle Newman, whose previous work includes Fanboys and Barely Lethal, the upcoming comedy follows Vivian, an esports gamer who, after receiving a college scholarship to play for Barrett University, faces sexism within the school's male-dominated squad and ends up forming her own all-girls team to compete at nationals. In addition to Rose, who stars as Vivian's coach, Parker, the film features Hubie Halloween's Paris Berelc, Taylor Zakhar Perez, and Hari Nef. 1Up, produced by Lionsgate and Buzzfeed Studios, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on July 15, 2022.

The first trailer for 1Up was recently released by Lionsgate Movies and introduces audiences to Berelc's nationally-ranked player Vivian, as well as the dynamic between her and Dustin, the captain of Barrett's team. It also reveals a lot about Parker and previews some of her seemingly unconventional coaching tactics. Check out the full trailer for 1Up below:

Ruby Rose is perhaps best known for her roles in popular projects such as Orange Is the New Blackand Pitch Perfect 3. Most recently, she starred as Kate Kane on the CW's Batwoman before exiting after one season and later issuing complaints against Warner Bros. With a surrounding cast full of rising talent, 1Up certainly has all of the makings of a hit, and followers of Rose can check it out when it hits Amazon Prime next month.

Cute, they actually think girls are anywhere near men in esports.

If you're interested in the topic of women in games, how about these 2 documentaries.

Wow. I stopped following League years ago but a 13 minute pro game is completely unheard of.

Also fuck Riot Russia for bitching that they banned 5 supports against them, thats not unsportsmanlike. Making pros play against Diamonds is unsportsmanlike.

this is why women's competitions now are subjective things, like having 30 minutes to design and stylize a Sim in the latest Sims lol

It's only fair for women when you have to appeal to the sensibilities and emotions of a panel of judges
