I unfortunately grew up on reddit, back before they instituted a new UI. I started using it when I was like 10-11. Used it for years until it became an unusable shithole and I had to venture out into the broader net.

I was a 4chan user in high school, still visiting reddit occasionally, but I left once I realized my preferred boards were also turning into fucking shit (/g/ & /x/). /x/ degraded into constant low effort posts and /g/ was just autistic shitflinging about programming languages. I have no love for the users or the community.

I no longer visit either of those sites except to find obsure threads on software or wallpapers.

You are not stuck there forever, it is a choice to remain there. I worry about you if your personal threshold for shittiness is so robust that you can watch a community degrade and not get the creeping urge to never visit again.

When I get bored of the Farms, I now will take breaks for days in between visits. As fun as it would be if the ride never ended, the reality is that I can close the tab anytime I like and walk away from my screen, and you should be able to as well.

Mr. Bones' wild ride came to an end and that is okay. It is time to get off and stretch your legs.

You're not stuck there forever because you're literally a Redditor and always will be. Those formative years on reddit while your mind was young and malleable permanently shape how you view and interact with online communities. By the unfortunate circumstance of you finding Reddit first and growing up with it, you cannot have the same relationship with 4chan as someone who started with it, and have no real place commenting on something like this.

These leaks proved every schizo theory about 4chan being completely hollowed out and replaced with State Approved Shitposting. I know it probably feels bad realizing this, but 4chan had been dead for very long time. Once you're done with the withdrawals, you'll find better places to post in, that have better discussions, rather than just 10 samefags and 2 mods constantly lurking and deleting shit they don't like for "trolling".
