Ghibli films are the definition of a vibe watch, you just sink in the chair and enjoy the pretty landscapes and handcrafted animation and music and forget everything because they always have weak plots with a nonexistent middle arc. They're a great watch with a girlfriend/wife for this reason. The only exception I can remember is The Wind Rises, that one has a coherent plot.

That general had arguably been a shitshow for a long time but was especially unusable for the last like half year.

In particular the alleged "secret" discord servers, which according to some there was half a dozen of at some point.
Again, all allegedly, but I for one would absolutely believe there actually WAS one of these servers, where the very worst and most online thread trannies recruited and coordinated shitposting gay ops.

I watched this after my cat of ten years passed away. I enjoyed it of all the ghibli movies even though it's not a miyazaki.

I've seen Howl's Moving Castle recommended a lot more often than Princess Mononoke to be honest and the latter's ending is kinda shit.

Moving castle and spirited away are the most egregious but all his movies suffer from meandering plot until the last 10 mins when they go "Oh shit. We need to wrap this up. Just slap some shit on to tie up the loose ends and call it a day. Need to get ready for another award".

Also my neighbor totoro is trash and I'm tired of everyone saying it's good.

I agree, but (most of) the western world's recent mass media is why so many kids are being driven to eastern-slop. It's gotten so bad that if you want a good story, your best bet is to go back in time thirty years and develop a love for books. You have to go back even further if you'd like good movies.

I still haven't found a good alternative to /a/.
Smuglo.li and Kissu.moe are ok but pretty slow.
