Holy fuck the captcha system is ass. I keep getting "Field too long" errors despite putting down what's exactly written in the box. Fuck this site.

One thing I can say for certain is that certain boards couldn't be deader. /pol/, /tv/, /v/ and /co/ are quite active but /mu/ is a ghost town. Even 5 years ago, the board had what feels like three times as much activity. These days, the same posters make the same threads ad infinitum and nobody discusses anything of note outside genre threads, and even those are flooded with rank shitposts. It seems imageboards are a dying breed.
Phones, plus e-celebs is what's killing image boards and traditional forums. Touchscreens aren't practical for writing out long-form posts and new internet users exist under this delusion that they have the chance of making it big like mr breasts. No one of that demographic wants to use a forum where they have no identity and no chance of monetizing what they say.

It can't be overstated enough just how slow and fucking dead /v/ is when a Pacman thread turns into a furfag porn request thread that's been up for 2 days and 20 hours -- 4 hours short of being up for 3 whole days. I think this is the longest I've ever seen a thread up on /v/'s catalog and from what I recall, it'd typically be 12 to 14 hours at most when 'murican's went to bed and post traffic slowed down. Rarely would a thread last a day on that board with how fast it was during practically all hours. Don't let any faggot tell you /v/ doesn't have a coomer problem, let alone say 4chan "isn't" dead. and just hit'em with this thread if they do.

So is anyone else being sent "email verification" requirements now? It happens so irregularly too. IP list apparently (it's a dynamic ip... hmmm). Doesn't say I'm banned though, just needs verification. At that point, I might as well use this or plebbit.

Same here. Tried testing it out on some Blue and Red boards and still got the message. If this isn't a mistake on the tranny jannies part, this is what cements the death of 4chan as a whole and I had a feeling this type of change was going to happen at some point. Watch it both not cull chronic shitposters or the tranny jannies do anything to stop them them now that everyone's essentially been marked.

Someone posted a screenshot of this post on /v/

First of all, I need to point out that this thread contains drawfags, threads with drawfags being kept alive artificially for unholy long amounts is nothing new, and when it comes to the addition of COOM, /v/ turns into a caveman that will protect the thread from dying out like an ancient caveman keeping a fire lit until the man with the long stick brings back the juicy thighs.

Aside from that and talking about thread length increase in general:
I assume most people haven’t realized that /v/ increased the threads-per-page from 15 to 20 (150->200 total) back in December 2023, given how often the thread-duration increases come up as a topic.
This generally means that a thread could theoretically last 33% longer, but in reality people also seem to overlook the fact that between 2021 and 2024, the amount of posts made decreased by 18% while the amount of threads made decreased by 24%.

More thread slots + less slide threads = longer slow threads, and even then, threads staying alive for over 24~48 hours weren't completely uncommon before the threads-per-page increase.

I've been getting similar issues. It's acting like I'm range banned but says I can verify my email to get around it. Unfortunately the oddities don't end there.
When I go to verify, it makes me solve an image captcha. Thing is, after about 5 seconds it grays out the "Verify" button next to the email field and this message pops up:

Despite my browser settings having always been kept kosher for 4chan in the past, it insists that I need to change my cookie/script settings (which I'm not going to change, fuck you). Funny thing is, if I solve the captcha fast enough I can click the "Verify" button before that pop-up shows up and can get a verification email to generate, only when I finally click the verification link and solve the text captcha, it says the verification link is invalid or expired.

If this is how the site's going to function from now on, so be it, I think it's time I finally stop visiting this cesspit after nearly 20 years.

I know I'm outrageously late to the party hit me with those clocks, boys~! but how the fuck does anyone manage to post on 4chan anymore? I tried posting in a thread earlier today and got hit with a 120 second wait time... and then once I filled out the captcha was told my IP range was banned even though I'm posting from house I just moved into a month ago and I should just try again? After another two fucking minutes?

Like I get it, I know 4chan has had retarded exceptional post filters and wait times for a long, long time. But how is the website still operating at this point? How the hell are zoomers and gen alpha dipshits of all people managing to wait patiently while their captcha gets processed and denied? Is the entire site just bots? Are there really that many people (and indians) just mindlessly hacking away at the site that is 4chan?

The older your cookies, the easier it is to post. They're just trying stuff to stop leto and the 'ecker from flooding the boards, settings are a bit aggressive from what others say, but I haven't been affected by them yet.

IP range could be banned because of someone else in your neighborhood or city or whatever spamming. It happens and will be gone eventually. The two minute wait sucks but the DOT captcha is even worse

"Use of 4chan is a privilege, not a right"
This sounds like something a reddit tranny janny would say after permabanning you for saying child rape is bad.
Isn't that exact turn of phrase in a copypasta mocking reddit jannies?
