I'm not going to power level, but I have indeed run off quite a few people I didn't like, in places like generals where it's easier to tell apart namefags and other regular posters. This works, but it requires persistence and autism few people have. Even in more general places like /v/ where threads are made and abandoned at a quick pace, you can leave someone with a bad enough experience that they will log off and fuck off to reddit/discord/twitter, it all depends on the thread in question.

It became a 'nerd' icon through extended media, but it's been normalcore forever. Star trek? It's so nerdy and niche it ran for decades. Dr Who? Same thing. Harry Potter was an extremely well selling book series and still tops sales charts today.

All the 'nerdy stuff' has always been mainstream and people want to deny it to act like they're the OG gangster of Marvel comics. Forgetting that Marvel used to be very popular with the whole family and it was common for adults to read them as well as kids.
