it also allows you to say nigger and faggot, but seriously the anonymous posting style does allow for people to do funny shit on it, a more extreme verison currently is the sharty because their glowies are different instead of the current pro-corporate glowies from US which slapped a 900 seconds timer to it, or you could register... to a forum that calls itself anonymous...

This is true, but they implemented a system roughly a year ago called 'Media Pending Approval' which has gotten rid of most of the CP problems on the site. As far as I'm aware, all the images/videos that are uploaded onto the site by new IPs have to be manually approved by the staff of the site before it is shown. That being said, CP directly being hosted on the site is very unlikely due to the Media Pending Approval system, but people are still able to upload links of that stuff. Use common sense and don't click on links that look sketchy.

/qa/ was the most fun I've had on 4chan in 20 years. Fuck the jannies punishing /qa/ for raiding /lgbt/. I get that /qa/ was increasingly becoming a problem child for the jannies, but things went off the rails when were deported to the 'sharty. None of this would have happened if the 4chan jannies weren't trannies.
 
Tourist here to provide some exposition on a question in the thread. Any 4channer who was attached to the trashfire webcomic known as Homestuck has had a bitter hatred of the entire moderation team ever since anything Homestuck related was site-wide, not just to /co/, unofficially banned. Shit wasn't even allowed on /trash/ for fucks sake. The only place it was allowed a thread was a porn thread on /aco/ whose moderation waxes and wanes on whether or not talking about the webcomic is allowed. There are all sorts of folklore on why this is the case, but I think everyone affected would be a bit less jaded if someone stepped up and made it an official rule instead of shadow banning it.
 
On the topic of how the site used to be better, I wish they would filter obnoxious meme phrases again like they did back in 2015.
Soy -> Onions was good, but the most necessary ones were smh tbh fam -> baka desu senpai, because holy shit the nigspeak was everywhere and annoying.
