It's genuinely impossible to discuss anything in any general there. It is ALL waifufaggotry, people trying to 'subtly' advertise they want to ERP (if it's an MMO's general), and deranged troons vagueposting at one another about drama that goes on 'off-general' (read: in discord) like teenage girls, except they're grown men twice the age of teenagers so it's just horribly pathetic. Oh and don't forget the constant avatarfagging! Useless fucking board. The only threads that are somewhat coherent/usable were (past tense) FromSoft generals, because there's no moe chick for AGP worms to latch onto and inhabit like a skinsuit.

Any website is going to need some level of moderation by necessity. Illegal content, incitement, disruptive spam, dox, etc. The basic stuff to keep the site functional. The problem is the people most attracted to being literal internet janitors are the ones who get off on the "power" they feel it gives them. So you end up with all kinds of stupid fucking "unwritten" rules and restrictions.

You end up with a site that has more overmoderation than fucking Twitter. On Twitter you can put a "NSFW" tag on a post and have it automatically hidden. You have less freedom than fucking Twitter.

The weird thing that happened is that the overmoderation made it really easy to notice SUS shit that obviously was given the go-ahead somewhere in the pipeline to be allowed. Like, if they're gonna overmoderate at least be consistent, but they weren't.

Rules weren't even enforced consistently on the blue boards. For example, It wasn't unheard of for some threads on /lgbt/ to devolve into just sharing nudes around, regardless of what the actual topic was. I always assumed it was tranny favoritism with the jannies

The entire reason why /qa/ was removed (thus creating the sharty) is because they raided /lgbt/. Raids on other boards were rather tolerated, but touching their holy cow? How dare you!

Those are janny applications. Jannies are unpaid and mostly powerless (they can't even ban anyone).
I don't know how mods are recruited but they are paid (though their salary is very very clearly undeserved).
