Not only is this still possible on 4chan, it's possible basically anywhere that doesn't re-encode uploaded images to a different format. FOR EXAMPLE (uploaded here since kwf may re-encode shit as lossy webp which would compromise pixel data): https://i.ibb.co/20DNMZrk/misinformation-lol.png
The full pixel data of this image contains an embedded file that I just put into it with a tool I made myself. If I were malicious this could be part of a .rar with CSAM, but in this case it's just some text:

I've attached the text file to this post so you can see it but it's mostly just some random janny info. It's nearly invisible but if you compared it VERY closely to my avatar you might notice slight pixel shifting. If you compared it programmatically you'd notice that the whole image is full of pixel changes, but my tool also appends automatic pixel noise after the file data to make it less obvious that the image has an embedded file instead of just being a bit lossy. For a txt file the file data would look different from the noise to some extent, but if I zipped it and encrypted it you wouldn't be able to tell at all.

The point is: I could post this file on 4chan right now if it was up and it wouldn't do SHIT to scrub it. I made this tool nearly 10 years ago for fun, just because I wanted to know if I could do it. If I could do this in my free time, a sufficiently-motivated pedophile or other degenerate could certainly do it, and probably better than I did. In fact they don't even really have to since there are already existing tools that do this, the point of the tool being self-made is just to illustrate how simple it is. This also doesn't take into account JPEG compression steganography, sound steganography (which could be used with the 4chan sounds addon to share parts of files, and which I also made a tool for), and so on.

So yes, they stopped the most insanely obvious version of this by scanning for extra appended info on jpegs, but they have almost no other measures preventing steganographic file sharing. To be fair though, nobody does.

Btw, I'm so used to low-effort posting. Like, 4chan is all I've ever known. I'm really trying my best with punctuation, but you guys write entire paragraphs like on Reddit while not sounding like Redditors. It's more like between 4chan and Reddit. As in there are some Reddit opinions going around but somehow presented in a way that are not Reddit. Also people have been very nice and welcoming, it's not something you see anywhere. I'm very impressed by that and I want to be more like a Kiwifarm guy (Kiwifarmer..?) rather than anon. Maybe if 4chan is down long enough, I don't even want to go back because I get the same rush from a (1) as from a (you) right now. I hope I can sleep without checking for (1) too much.
