It's not semantics. /b/ finding a random webcam and a guy saying brb going to knock that post card stand over is internet anarchy. It's mostly harmless trouble making where the guy doing it claimed no personal gains from it except for a few posts in a thread. It was childish but funny and unexpected.

HWNDU was a Hollywood celebrity setting up a webcam to talk about American politics. Where wannabe e-celebs like Valenti and Sam Hyde forced themselves into it to get e-fame and build their online following.

If you don't understand how these are different then you shouldn't be allowed on the internet. Trolling for the sake of trolling is what old 4chan was about. 2016 and onward 4chan was about the culture war and people trying to get famous off of it. It's not the same kind of trolling and it's all about attention seeking when old 4chan made you regret getting it's attention instead of using it to get an Adult Swim TV show.

They're all self proclaimed pedophile "oldfags"(admit to browsing reddit unironically) so this isn't just the case with 4cuck either, it's the entire "imageboard eldest fag" spectrum. I mentioned this before, but it was all over when fappening happened, because that's exactly when the floodgates for coomers have been opened.

I don't think that 4chan went to shit due to pedos or anything, although that probably helped to turn it into the sad state that it's in. Mostly I just think that its former status died because it got too big and well known, and its reputation as the den of edgelords attracted too many retards. Porn (especially in OPs to attract attention,) which has been mentioned a lot in this thread as of late is another big one too. 4chan went from being that weird site that maybe a few kids you knew in high school were aware of to a site where people were making Youtube videos reading off copypastas and the dreaded "The Scariest/Most Toxic Site on the Internet" style video essays or tweeting out screenshots of them to the tune of hundreds of thousands of views.

4chan had it's problems before then, but by god the moment every single drooling normalnigger could access it, AND everybody started talking about the site, it was over. People think the major turning point was GG and Moot leaving, but they're wrong: The site was a stinking shithole for years before that. Even the site culture in the early 2010s was effected by redditors and normalfags: everything being known as a "meme" started around that point, all the le super ironic shit like "BEE MOVIE IS MY FAVORITE ANIME!", general downwards spiral of quality of posts and influx of newfags and of course, increase in coomers. All of this just a few years after the infamous year of 2007, long enough for fresh meat to consider themselves "oldfags".
Remember /soc/? That board was created as a means to try and save /b/ from all the blogposting normalfags that completely run the board down, of course it didn't help but I think this and the fappening was the big turning point for me. Things just got worse, and as much as GG finally exposed the moderation of the site, at least it gave us 8chan which let us ignore the rot for a few years before it came to that site too.

We can talk about the downfall of the site for hours, but I think the rest of your post summed it up pretty well. We can never go back simply because the anon of the past just doesn't exist anymore. We're dealing with brain rot/brain drain and culture war/political instability and of course the smart phone devolution from the crib that lead to the creation of an absolute subhuman class that would simply be confused at the original purpose of the site and many of it's boards, the normalcattle has already decided that 4chan is just edgier reddit and they outnumber you by millions. Of course, many "oldfags" are also to blame, either for not gatekeeping enough, for trooning out/selling out or simply for being no better than the dumb cattle they claim to hate. The webring situation, where the 8chan oldfags failed to create their own replacement and simply scattered to the winds after bickering like women proves as much, as do any remaining "oldfags" on the 'cuck. Everyone is to blame to a certain degree, but anything short of an extremely autistic site owner like Null that would protect the culture and integrity of the site at all costs for years upon years would just lead to this point eventually. The entire internet has become sanitized, powers that be want to turn it into the equivalent of cable TV, so anything that could potentially make the site unsuitable for hosting Toyota ads or one that posts opinions and propaganda not approved by the state/glowies has to go. I don't need to preach to the choir when this very site has been subject of a ridiculous warpath by powers that be to take it down because you cannot host any Toyota ads on it and because it hosts opinions that PTB do not approve of. Yes, I know it's also because it triggers trannies and exposes the likes of dong-gone, but we know that this is all secondary in the grand scheme of things. 4cuck never stood a chance under luggage lad and it was never given a second one when the gook took it over, rest is history as the feds slowly but surely turned it into a suitable honeypot, making sure to keep the facade of the "internet hate machine" or "political dissident central" alive.

Oh, and to not make this post too gloom and doom, are there any actual generals/threads/boards worth using these days? There have to be some gems in the absolute diarrhea of nontent for the site but fuck if I'm looking for it. I know you guys might browse the site more than I do.

The first cancer cell of that particular tumor were the "pony thread simulators" that first popped up in 2011. Several of those received more than 100,000 views (which was still a lot by early 2010s yt standards) and there were loads of them, funneling cancerous newfags from yt directly to 4chan, years before the flood of >tfw no gf greentexts started spreading on the internet like itch mites spread on an AIDS victim with scabies.

I think people also underestimate the damage done by those greentexts that somehow went mainstream. Those even led to the highest form of internet neurosyphilis: human coprophages on yt reading shit off leddit who read shit off 4cuck.

The best thing you can do is go to whatever board you feel like visiting and sort threads by reply count and check which ones are worth engaging in. It's mostly bad now.

Very late reply, but i noticed something when scrolling through his old reddit account; all the posts are 4+ years old but, barring a couple things most of it is remarkably coherent, with most of the comments being on r/Catholicism of all places. Like, proper grammar, proper sentence structures, ideas that make at least partial sense. It makes me wonder if he was maybe medicated during this time? I was just reminded of guy recently , but it seems different from how he usually acts which is often incomprehensible
