You may be confusing the 2024 remake drama with the original IS VIVIAN OUR TRANS BBY EGG??? stuff.

The ghost was already a troon in certain GC versions. The ghost is just a girly boy in japanese and most yuro languages except italian, where vivian is explicitly troon'd out "and proud of it". In english and german, that sub-plot/gag is dropped entirely and vivian is bullied for no clear reason. In japanese, french, and spanish, vivian is bullied more because he doesn't fit in with the other sisters and the gag is clearly more "how can we be a charlie's angels type girl squad when one of us is a goddamned man" and not tranny derangement of any sort. The intended punchline seems to be more that the other two shadows are ugly hags anyway and having a man in the crew is not the problem with maintaining a girl-squad aesthetic. In any case, troons latched onto the character briefly and it became an easy way to troll /v/.

The 2024 remake has a lot of re-localized text that tones down how mean some lines are and some stereotyping/"ableist" language is downplayed or deleted. It ranges from "we want to keep that E rating" to outright woke, and introduces new errors that weren't in the original english release. Even if you don't agree that it's specifically wokeshit, it has a much more dull tone.
