I still love 4chan. Many people here seemingly just wants it to fail.

The problem is that there is no mechanism nor person in place to lift it out of the grave in any meaningful state. The site needs someone who isn't Hiro that is both enterprising/passionate/altruistic enough to devote their time and money to make it usable and to rid it of all the problems that led to this in the first place.
The main admin is MIA, the jannies are all gum-toothed retards who can't be bothered to register with a non-identifying email, and half the posters want to see it burn anyways. The truth is that the site has never been profitable and it's a giant pain in the ass to manage, and no one is stupid or charitable enough to make it whole without some sort of side-angle or grift.
Look at all the people on social media claiming they want to buy and restore it, they're all grifters.
If it ever comes back it'll be even more ghoulish than before.

I just realized that the "private reasons" on the bans means that jannies are actually coping and sneeding when they Ban you

honestly this should have been a surprise to no one. Anyone who made their own shitty vbulletin bbs back in the early 00's(or, god forbid, moderated a "legitimate" forum during that timeframe) and looked at the admin CP should have been well aware that you could attach notes to bans that only other users of the admin panel can see.
Also, jannies could not ban you. It's only moderators that can ban or view IP's. Or at least, that's what the claims go. All jannies are supposedly capable of are deleting posts and petitioning a moderator to perform the ban(which they'll probably do blindly most the time ).

I don't really know anything about any of these, I only ever briefly visited 7chan all the way back in the 2000s.

that's exactly right. i'm mourning the site right now because of the potential loss of those boards on which the shitty moderation over the past few years hasn't been as much of an issue such as those and /t/ etc. theres some laughs to be had at the jannies getting their shit pushed in but if it kills the site its nothing to throw a party over, not at all.
