The only way someone could make a "new" imageboard today and actually moderate it properly without going insane or handing off moderation to a group who will go insane (assuming it had a decent population) is to essentially make it an imageboard UI for a site you have to log in to. Basically everyone would need an account, but nobody's accounts or names would be visible to anyone else (unless they wanted to use them like a tripcode and selected the option), and the UI would resemble a standard imageboard. This would allow registration to be shut and opened to control overall poster counts, easier moderation, no need for a billion captchas to nerf bots, etc. The problem is that most imageboard users would not want to use such a site for numerous reasons, the main one being that anonymity is the main appeal and the fact that you need an account is a big risk to anonymity if the owner/mods ever decide to be fags about it. Null probably wouldn't be a fag about it but that's besides the point.

Essentially that wall of text boils down to "9chan would have worked if you needed a valid KWF login cookie to post" but it's totally understandable to not want to deal with the imageboard audience, and I say that as a member of the imageboard audience. Forums are gay but IBs are retarded and gay these days so I'll take regular gay over that.

you'd be surprised at how many these people are actually really rooted within their hobbyist communities before trooning out. I believe that the current spike in trannyism is coming from unironic millenilol oldtroons who've developed a deep seated hatred towards their own fellow nerds and feeling the stagnation in their lives after dedicating themselves in becoming a pillar of their own hobby circles for decades on top of a looming midlife crisis as they turn 40 with no prospects in having a wife nor family. Instead of improving themselves for the better, they see being a woman as the easiest way out of their personal problems and failures. These people are not outsiders to the community, they just become unhinged and spiteful to the people around them.
