There's a mod and/or janny incredibly close to where I live. Using dox info I found his grandmother's obituary and traced his family lineage and we happen to be maybe 8th cousins or something. What do? Am I what you call a "cowtipper" if I interact with him? Are jannies honorary cows?

Also what the fuck happened to /mu/ over the last decade? Is it a generational issue? I'm inclined to believe the mods were getting paid to allow pop and rap, anything still viably commercial, to flood the board. Or was it the zoomers? You saw it on /ck/ most obviously with blatant corporate fast food, brand, and grocery store shilling. /tv/ was flooded by flavor of the month Netflix or HBO or Amazon or obvious Hollywood goyslop. Maybe 5% of the discussion was organic and the whole thing a way to do market research. Am I just schizo? Too cynical?

Getting to use 8moe more often recently really opened my eyes to how abysmal the user experience on 4chan is, and how neglected the site is. Multiple files per post, non cancerous CAPTCHA, buttons that work, responsive UI, IDs, reasonable filesize limits, no jank.
Feels like I've been eating shit my whole life and someone just handed me a handkerchief.

PDF (and user submitted content) sanitizing is basic shit; they really must have not given a shit about updating the site or its security if they fucked that up.
I'm not a competent computer toucher but I do know that PDFs are notorious for creating shitloads of vulnerabilities, even worse than the old MS Office macro days. Documents were not meant to be turing-complete

One thing I never understood was why a site that is supposed to be anonymous like 4chan would implement a wait time to post that can be bypassed by using an email? giving your email to 4chan defeats the purpose of an anonymous image board.

And if this is true, then they need an almost total re-write, or to switch to a different more modernized imageboard engine entirely.
Switching is probably the better option at this point, because who at this point will be willing to fund a developer to update and then maintain the code?
I'm sure gookmoot is trying everything in his power to be as lazy as possible whilst still getting the site back up again.

Filtering was actually really effective against raiders. They couldn't get any reactions from the thread since everyone collectively ignored them, so they just fucked off on their own. A few even did this with some of the more obnoxious regulars too so the cunts would behave when they get too autistic.
Yes, but the key is that EVERYONE (or the majority) of thread posters had to do this for it to be effective. Hence the constant admonition of "don't give (You)s to shills". As for "obnoxious regulars", you could always try to snipe them with a 3-day ban if they were doing something harmless, but technically rule breaking such as posting different images of the same anime character with every reply (breaks "no avatars/signatures" rule). Did that a few times and had that happen to me as well. No ragrets.
>He doesn't know how to greentext on the farms
Manually changing the text color is not the same thing, Paco.
It wasn't even worth the hassle because there are too many mentally ill posters who click on your shit. Some of the Unreal trannies on /lit/ get upset when other anon projects take away discussion from their circlejerk “literary magazine”, and then they will actively post bad things about your story and openly talk about campaigning against other posters in their /wg/ discord.
Holy shit that is so fucking petty and pathetic that I absolutely believe that happened.

DM me a link to your story if you feel like it, bro. I'm curious.

I'd do it for free, on the condition that /qa/ be reopened specifically for moderator=user live interaction.

all of my favourite boards on that website turned to shit

/pol/
unusable after 2018, twitter 2.0

/k/
flooded with redditors, /pol/tards and nogunners, the best thread was the /ak/ thread

/tv/
looked like there were only 10 different active posters, apart from Sneedposter and Baneposters

/wsg/
too slow, otherwise peak

/vst/
too slow because people still made most strategy games thread on /v/ for easy engagement bait

/v/
had sometimes more gooner shit than /gif/

/vg/
/mbg/ died, /twg/ turned into reddit, at least /gfl/ was good

Rest in Piss, you won't be missed
>YOU INSULT TWO DECADES OF INTERNET HISTORY
>DISREGARD OUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO MEME CULTURE AT LARGE
>MOCK OUR BOARDS
>THREATEN OUR JANNIES

4chan has been dead for quite some time. It was very bad from 2007-2014 and after 2014 it became unusable in my opinion. Some people will say it didn't become unusable until 2018, but those are cancerous users who were the ones destroying the site for oldfags like me. 8chan was great but the software failed. The current group of alternative-chans are all run by administrators with known bad histories who cannot be trusted with moderation power and do not have the ability to manage a community.

The AI image threads on 4chan were good last year but lately they've been failing as well. As it is I don't see any reason to wish for 4chan to recover.

Kiwifarms is fairly heavily moderated and it's not my forum of choice. I wouldn't normally post here at all. But I can speak more freely here than I would be able to on /pol/ on the best day and more human beings (or, at least, subhumans) will read it.

Because it gives them the best stalking tool possible.

I'm not even old, but it is basically impossible to match properly. The anonymity, unconditional engagement, and even playing field are completely missing in social media. There's a place for and an upside to having a concrete identity on a site that can help with discussions (and not having one has downsides, like schizos and samefags). But no other major social media is just going to have you able to hop onto a board, see a thread vaguely related to something you like, and shoot the shit for a couple of hours without any worry about your dogshit opinions on Gunpla biting you in the ass and getting you cancelled a year down the line. There's no stakes, little commitment, and a freedom to just going into a thread, solving a captcha, and posting.
In a better world this would be possible. Have a few regular posters on stand by just in case, maintain board culture, make it visible to anyone why a user gets banned. But the regular posters, those you'd want to have as mods or jannies don't want to spend all their time with those responsibilities. Trannies with no life, filled with hate for everyone who doesn't suck them off congregating in a discord server? They have all the time in the world. As another poster said they are the termites of the world. Guess it makes sense why they would choose Rust as their de-facto programming language.
For now everyones scattered to different corners of the internet and I dont think any attempt will be made to create a functioning, efficient, accessible and more importantly 1:1 or even superior copy to 4chan. Too much hassle to maintain and work on as moot admitted to himself.
Not to mention how nobody would want to apply as a mod or jannie now. What remains would be and and continue to be a very autistic clique of trannies.
Edit: Grammar stuff.

You're anonymous to other users, not to the site. There's 9001 ways to track the user of a website as it is. 4chan has never been genuinely privacy-oriented, it's more like going to a masquerade party.

Because they needed a way to fight bot spam and wanted to give some mechanism for people who switched devices frequently or were just impatient to bypass the 15 minute wait time instead of alienating them completely.

Shalom, left-/pol/ poster!
Also 4chan has been bad since its inception. The only thing that changed is the influx of botspam which required implementing more and more layers of protection both on the admin side (captcha) and the user side (filters).
