There were two tiers of moderation on 4chan. Despite mods being called "jannies" everywhere, jannies were the lowest tier. The worst they could do was throw out those 72 hours everyone caught a bunch of because some fat fuck somewhere got mad. Those were unappealable so this was what you got when you didn't break any actual rule but some cock-chopped tranny lost his shit at something you said.

For anything more, they had to flag the post to an actual mod. The mod could do anything up to permabans or even permabans of everyone on the thread. At one point, the mods were more sane than the jannies, but eventually these were the lunatics permabanning people for making on-topic posts while letting schizoposters go berserk.

And then there were the admins, people who actually ran the site. And look what fucking idiots they were, running ancient goatseware because they were too incompetent to update anything.
"Jewpan is living in the future!" Meanwhile the owner of the most popular imageboard, who's Jewpanese, couldn't bother nor knew how to update their decade-old protocols from 2012 and 2016

This shouldn't be surprising. It's a country that still uses fax machines, floppy disks, and Yahoo - a time capsule.

I've no nostalgia for 4chan, I remember when it started, remember its supposed "golden age", it was always like this. IDK maybe because I didn't use the site when I was 10 like some people (who shouldn't have) did but it was always a cesspool, the average poster always a retard, the content always approaching a level of gayness higher than what was socially acceptable at the time. It was always a weeb board, it was always a hentai board, moot started it for that. 99% of the posts were always shit, every good thing you see posted and screencaps reposted for years is one in a thousand, you can waste an entire week on 4chan without finding anything worthwhile at all.

What does make this suck is that its another part of the old web that bites the dust, another place gone, the web just got smaller, again. The users will most likely go to discord since they are now too dumb/lazy/broke to set up a new chan anyway. Because discord its an even worse cesspool full of groomers, trannies and datamining what was left of the "culture" (if you could call it that) will dilute and disappear.

Eventually the entire web will be just 3-4 social media apps, most normies already see it that way.

Isn't that just context sent from jannies to actual mods to execute bans longer than 3 day weekends? Doubt you'll find interesting stuff there.
Less "this arvan bvll made me seethe" and more "serial ban evader spammer"
AFAIK yes, but I would still like to see if there were any instances of jannies getting assblasted in the private box.

Also does anyone have any idea wtf was up with the situation on /x/? There were multiple gay generals that kept getting spammed on the board IE "succubus general" "nobody general" etc etc. To be fair the former had some form of discussion but the latter was 24/7 the same schizos posting over and over again insane babble. At one point people rumored it was botted with an LLM but in that case why tf did they not ban the fucker? Absolutely ruined the board.

I think a good example of why 4chan jannies are so hated is when Billy Mitchell won his lawsuit several weeks ago. The rules of /v/ lay out that it is a board discussing video games and video game culture. Well, Billy Mitchell is clearly a major figure in video game culture, and this was a topic that a lot of people wanted to discuss. Jannies were patrolling the board deleting anything that looked like a Billy Mitchell thread, including OPs that were just about the Donkey Kong arcade game.

Now if the board was like 25% threads about Billy Mitchell and his lawsuit, then yes, of course you've got to clean some of those up, but just one thread about this topic that clearly a lot of people wanted to discuss isn't going to hurt anything. Especially considering how many threads are just dedicated to masturbating to fanart of video game characters, which there are other boards for.
I sometimes watch a thing on the weekends called Mario Retardy, where about a hundred recurring /v/irgins gather to observe four Easy-level CPU Mario Party bots compete on stream. The games have tons of random game-changing elements and the gameplay/decision-making by low difficult bots is awful (with brief glimpses of Machiavellian brilliance, or maybe just dumb luck) so it's pretty entertaining. The community, which has existed for years at this point, has rotated out rallying cries, jeers and memes for each character. It's basically like if a bunch of bogans gathered to misbehave at the Special Olympics hosted by Nintendo World.

The/v/ mod hates Mario Retardy threads. If you try to make one mentioning it by name, it's pruned in seconds. Why? It can't be advertising; Retardy hosts using Twitch, but threads always began by promising they're in "the usual place" and never advertised a specific channel or URL (mostly because over the years various people have vowed to host them for any given Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If you know, you know.) The threads don't get reported because they're isolated; it's just people replying with Nintendo character memes relative to whatever character is winning, losing or upsetting/getting upset.

It's gotten to the point where Retardy regulars make generic Nintendo threads, like a picture of Donkey Kong's new redesign with the text "What do you think of DK?" and the thread will not only get deleted but you'll be issued a ban. We also watch this happen to Nintendo threads unrelated to Retardy that just happen to be made during the usual times. It's becoming a running gag that someone notices a Nintendo thread in the catalog, everyone clicks on it and we just wait to see how long it takes to get pruned (usually less than a minute.)

The moral of the story is 4chan jannies will take a shotgun to their own board and commit collateral damage at everyone's expense because... they don't like the fact a bunch of people (originating from their board) organized a weekend thing. One that they don't advertise. I guess if people go watch Mario Retardy, that's less stupid indians doomscrolling the catalog and being exposed to Ubisoft's viral marketing.
