Based. My fancy "H.P. Lovecraft: The Complete Fiction" has it. Still need to finish it. I had to force my way though his Dreamlands phase and put the book down for awhile, only to never pick it back up. Also of note is the story "The Street", which is about America being overrun by hostile immigrants and the ghosts of America's past rising up to wipe them away.
I know this because I accidentally purchased this 830 page piece of crap which includes virtually everything besides the rats in the walls. "The new Annotated" should have set off red flags for me. It was the first story I went to reread and was confused how it could not be included here.

I do agree a new board like /offtopic/ for example, to replace /trash/'s original job and do the role you want.
They were using several different boards as "offtopic" and that was part of the problem with how the site was structured. Those boards were treated as junk heaps and often proliferated the worst sorts of people that raided the rest of the site.

you were kicked from 4chan
I was an idlechan, 420chan, /5/, 7chan, 9chan, smug, julay, and 8chan user and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head
we are not the same
same for many of those, and toehrs you didnt mention. you are making assumptions. but we both know what i mean here
There's more to this site than just this thread, go explore
have been, just saying and musing that for the refugees we should try and get something back together for all the niche posting

basically, at some point, if the main spawn point isnt coming back, we should start looking forward for some kind of new beginings. im talking to all those displaced that werent using alt chans, and there are tons.
im reaching at something larger than hopping into something existing and talking about making something newer to jive with whats happening, i dont think i even need a recap at this point, weve all been in this thread which, from many wise posters - have put it all very damn well.

Remind me again what the deal was with 7chan? When did it experience its migration spike from 4ch and why did it stay irrelevant just as quickly?

I've been digging through some of the php files from the leak and found a couple interesting tidbits here and there. I'm not exactly a code wizard, and neither of these are really that interesting, but I thought I'd post them here just because I haven't seen these anywhere else yet. The first one here is the very boring and typical jannie legal agreement that unsurprisingly tells them that they're going to clean the boards and do it for free. The second one seems to be a message from GrapeApe to the staff at the time that 4chan swapped ownership, basically telling them that nothing has changed and they'll continue receiving their $0.00/hr wage.

The following are the agreed-upon terms pursuant to which you will be volunteering with 4chan, LLC ("4chan") as a Volunteer Moderator:
1. Duties. This is a volunteer position. This letter agreement is executed as a deed. As a Volunteer Moderator, you will monitor user-posted content on 4chan's website at 4chan.org, including its subdomains and associated domains and any message boards contained thereon (collectively, the “Website”), and (a) report, edit, and/or remove user-posted content that is in violation of the Rules posted at http://www.4chan.org/rules (“Prohibited Content”) and (b) block users from accessing the Website for posting Prohibited Content (collectively, the “Moderation Duties”). You will perform the Moderation Duties in accordance with this letter agreement and any instructions and guidelines for Volunteer Moderators provided by 4chan to you from time-to-time. By entering into this letter agreement and performing the Moderation Duties, you represent and warrant that (x) you have no contractual commitments or other legal obligations that would prohibit your activities in connection with 4chan, (y) you will perform the Moderation Duties in a good and professional manner, and (z) you have full power, right and authority to enter into this letter agreement. You may not take any action other than (a) and (b) as specified herein, and you may not take any action which 4chan considers as inappropriate. In case of breach of such prohibitions, 4chan may terminate this Agreement at any time with notice by email. In such case, upon termination, you may not access Website by using ID and Password which 4chan has lent to you hereunder.

2. Relationship; No Compensation. You understand and agree that this is an unpaid, volunteer position and not an employment relationship. This position is for no specific period of time and will be “at will,” meaning that either you or 4chan may terminate your position and the service relationship at any time and for any reason, with or without cause. Although you must perform the Moderation Duties in accordance with all terms and conditions contained in this letter agreement, or as otherwise provided by 4chan to you, 4chan does not require any specific time commitment for this position (i.e. it is not “full time” or “part time”), and the amount of time you spend performing the Moderation Duties is solely at your own discretion. You acknowledge and agree that 4chan will not pay you any wages or other compensation (including without limitation any equity or ownership share in 4chan) at any time, now or in the future, under any circumstances, for performing the Moderation Duties, and you will not be eligible to participate in any 4chan company-sponsored benefits. Any contrary representations that may have been made to you are superseded by this letter agreement. 4chan may terminate your position and the service relationship with or without notice to you.

3. Proprietary Information. You acknowledge that in the course of performing the Moderation Duties, you may encounter or otherwise gain access to certain Proprietary Information of 4chan, and you agree to hold in confidence and not disclose to any third parties in any manner or medium whatsoever or, except in performing the Moderation Duties, use any Proprietary Information. “Proprietary Information” means all financial, business, legal and technical information of 4chan or any of its affiliates, suppliers, customers, users, contractors, owners, and employees (including without limitation information about user-posted content, personally identifiable information pertaining to users (such as but not limited to IP addresses, location, and cookie data), team member identities or nicknames (including without limitation other moderators, and regardless of whether such identities or nicknames are real-life or virtual), chat logs, orientation materials, legal or regulatory affairs, operations, marketing, transactions, inventions, processes, materials, data, know-how and ideas, whether tangible or intangible, and including all copies and other derivatives thereof), that is previously, presently or subsequently disclosed by or for 4chan to you or which is otherwise made available to you or which you learn in the course of performing the Moderation Duties. For the avoidance of doubt, this letter agreement, its terms, and its existence shall constitute 4chan's Proprietary Information. Upon termination or as otherwise requested by 4chan, you will promptly return to 4chan all items and copies containing or embodying Proprietary Information.

4. Survival. Your obligations under Sections 1, 3, 4 and 5 of this letter agreement shall survive any termination or expiration of this letter agreement.

5. Miscellaneous. This letter agreement constitutes the entire agreement, and supersedes all prior negotiations, understandings or agreements (oral or written), between the parties concerning the subject matter hereof. No change, consent or waiver to this letter agreement will be effective unless in writing and signed by the party against which enforcement is sought. The failure of 4chan to enforce its rights under this letter agreement at any time for any period shall not be construed as a waiver of such rights. Unless expressly provided otherwise, each right and remedy in this letter agreement is in addition to any other right or remedy, at law or in equity, and the exercise of one right or remedy will not be deemed a waiver of any other right or remedy. In the event that any provision of this letter agreement shall be determined to be illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that letter agreement shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. This letter agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, USA without regard to the conflicts of laws provisions thereof. Exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any action arising under this letter agreement is in the federal and state courts located in New York City, and both parties hereby consent to such jurisdiction and venue for this purpose. Any notice hereunder will be effective upon receipt and shall be given in writing, in English and delivered to the other party in a manner indicated by 4chan.

You may indicate your agreement with these terms and accept this offer by signing and dating this letter agreement. You may also opt-out of providing an electronic signature via this web form, and instead provide a physical signature with pen and paper if you would prefer. Please contact legal@4chan.org for more information regarding the foregoing.

The new Volunteer Moderator Agreement is ready to be signed. While I strongly suggest you read it for yourself, it appears to be very similar to the previous agreement you all had with moot (4chan, LLC), except that the company name has changed to Hiroyuki's company (4chan Community Support LLC), and that the 'Identity Verification' section has been dropped.

Once your agreement has been counter-signed, you'll be able to log in and access the janitor tools once again. During this process you will be kicked from #janiteam, and the channel key will be changed. Once your agreement has been counter-signed and your account re-activated, just go to /j/ to get the new channel key and re-join the channel.

Oh, looks like you beat me to the punch on genkey.php.

The nazi to tranny pipeline is real, it's why you shouldn't be a low IQ racist /pol/ack or it will happen to you too
late but there are good threads on pol. most of us could instantly filter jews, feds, trannies, and anything else we weren't there for. good stuff for a bunch of faggots dealing with 247 psyop. did some troon out? maybe ikd but that pipeline isn't real. you would have been filtered by me but what you said was an insult.

I really think it will be back, not because I'm tech savvy and know things, it just feels inevitable. It was too big of a site to be down permanently, if the current owner doesn't restore it he'll sell it to someone who will. And when it comes back the regulars will go back and it will be basically back to normal. This should happen sooner than later.

I'm happy I discovered this site in the meantime because I actually think I prefer it here, even if Nulldog rudely ignored my request for trans flag stickers, which I think would be very topical. That's why I was suggesting to look around, bc it's a little inactive at the moment but if more refugees start engaging with old threads it could be a very lively alternative to our old boards and generals (I'm from /hor/).

Remind me again what the deal was with 7chan? When did it experience its migration spike from 4ch and why did it stay irrelevant just as quickly?
It was just where certain boards moved because they hated the jannies. From my perspective it's where the "cool kids" went. I was from the previous generation and not part of the club. It's the first chan that people said was "better" than 4chan. It was slower and /v/ was usable. On 4chan, /v/ was unusable after around '08. I can't remember specific timelines for altchans and I need to look up my own screenshots and shit just to remember what went down with 8chan even though I was intimately involved with that one.

For some time now I've been of the opinion that the true cause of 4chan's demise was a generational turnover in its user base.
Once zoomers became the majority, 4chan became gay and retarded.
There are many problems. The influx of people was too large for others to assimilate and brought their own culture. The idea of ignoring bait and low effort is probably unknown to many who went there daily. The jannies and mods either are incompetent or wanted to destroy the site, as trannies often do. The constant crossposting between twittards and anons, posting screenshots from one place to another further ruined any semblance of identity.
There was no point to discuss anything, the timing was bullshit, your IP range could be blacklisted from making threads or posting(for more than a year I still got "Your IP range has been temporarily blocked" despite actually trying to "be the change you want to see", and if effort posted and partook in discussion you would be met with ">all that wordsalad seething lmao". You can't gatekeep if the barbarians took over the gate.

You sound like you are one bad wank away from going full troon

ok, here is what needs to happen.

This thread has become about needed venting, and mourning.

Now, we need to plan the next course. We need a new thread over the direction we want things to go in. If we want 4chan back - well need to come up with a tight list of demands to make the site better and demand this to the current staff. we already have their numbers.

we need a new thread for planning and forward, future moves.
Demands? The admins, mods, and jannies will only hate us even more. They are going to be even more defensive and less willing to listen to reasonable suggestions from anons. It's going to be weird as fuck when it goes back up. Anons won't be allowed to say anything about the elephant in the room. We will be expected to resume posting as normal, except jannies and mods will be breathing down our necks so closely, we'll be able to smell the pepperoni hot pockets and estrogen-infused cum on their breath through our screens.
