Data yes. Funding no. Compliance with federal laws on CP yes.

Remember the leaked list of mods. there were literally zero on /b/. That board at least is 100% fed moderated.
The only things it would need to be moderated for are violations of US law, which are handled by global mods
I won't contest that they send data thus collected to the feds though

All of those years, people were making up the most outlandish conspiracy theories about how 4chan is a CIA fed honeypot to mass harvest data and has their funding to make sure to round up all the extremist after 2016 and yadda yadda fucking Hitler is alive on the moon tier type bullshit.

Meanwhile this entire situation has verified that the Occam's razor answer was the real answer all along. RapeApe just outright admitted to it in this blog post.

>actually believing the blogpost written by a coward who wouldn't even sign it with a username

Probably because not everyone is running Google Chrome off their Android phone
That makes sense, but still, I don't see why would they do something like this in a way that brings so much attention, the whole thing probably scared of a lot of users, wouldnt that be counterproductive?

i was never a regular 4chan browser

never really "got it"

but this message…

takes itself /entirely/ too seriously

as if 4chan were a fortune 500 company

with corporate shareholders

"the this community"?

is traffic down that bad, compared to the peaks of the past?

i detect a hint of desperation

in terms of

"please keep browsing this website!
we're accountable and worth your constant refreshing!
we respect you!
keep putting honey in the pot for us to sell without your knowledge or consent!"

bullshit
