I tried to use the site today. I got a 120 seconds delay before the captcha, then after waiting I got an another 120 seconds delay while trying to reply in an another thread. Are they seriously so technologically inept that they consider these measures to be a legitimate way of fighting spam? No other site I know of does this kind of a thing.
they do a great job making it a chore to shitpost. I'm surprised anyone can even be bothered using the site anymore

Out of curiosity, what will the site look like five years from now?
What'll it look like ten years from now?

The majority of the boards are more or less ghost towns that average a very few hundred posts a day and the dozen popular boards are unusable 9 times out of 10 and are plagued with schizos and off-topic shit. The moderation team has obviously given up years ago and virtually nothing has changed since the Sharty hack.

I went to /v/ today out of curiosity and literally nothing had changed since the site went down. First thread was a 500+ post culture war Steam chart thread that got archived. The only thing I noticed were that the offsite raiders have gotten more rabid and unhinged but it's still the same shithole it was pre-hack.

If the 4cuck mod team ran KF then every thread would have at least two genuinely mentally ill people shitting up the thread 24/7 without getting banned and the site would've permanently died with the first cloudflare blackout.

it will probably just become a site populated by bots until the money dries up and it's not worth running anymore. that or rapeape commits suicide and the site dies with him

Retarded joke sticky on /v/ deserved a retarded response from me. Looks like I really upset someone.

The funniest part? It was deleted in 30 SECONDS:

The insecurity is very much real. If only these faggots had this kind of response time for the rest of the board when porn threads stay up on the catalog for literal hours.

What better way to kick off Halloween than by getting SPOOKED by one of the SPOOKIEST boards on 4chan?
I present to you: a horror story called "a sticky on /v/"

An anon on /v/ announces his greatest accomplishment yet: getting every achievement in Skyrim, and actually playing a video game.
Fellow /v/irgins congratulate anon for beating Todds Game™.

Five hours later, a mod also notices that someone on /v/ actually played a video game.
They make a congratulatory post, complete with a hidden autoplay of an Xbox 360 achievement sound, and sticky the thread.

The thread is good lighthearted fun for a while, before it inevitably collapses into chaos with:
  • Sharty spamming Nikocado Avocado,
  • Porn spam from someone spamming /cumg/ for a personal army request to spam the thread with porn,
  • A schizophrenic Onimai avatarfag who thinks everyone disagreeing with him is a janny, and that RPGs aren’t real games and shouldn’t be allowed on /v/,
  • Mass CP spam dump in the form of images that get deleted near instantly, and then as catbox links for a dozen posts,
  • Various proxy users screeching about their proxy not correctly working, followed by a banwave for dozen of Letos proxies,
  • And cloudflare shitting the bed in the middle of all of this.
After a tug-of-war between ban evaders and jannies spanning nearly over 1300 posts worth, the thread returns to relative normality and is, after that, mostly just congratulations from anons, discussions about what they're doing for halloween, mentions of skyrim and their own achievment goals or victories for other games.

i genuinely believe 4chan won't survive this decade, i just can't see this site lasting more then 6 years

Also why did people hate that sticky so much?

I've noticed that many 4chan users are treating that site like an anonymous version of X or Discord, and I think this form of enshittification will continue. The mods and jannies letting schizos get away with everything while cracking down on fun threads does not help either.

I think 4chan will stay alive even 10 years later, but its user base will be completely replaced; barely anyone who currently posts on 4chan will be posting on it 10 years later. Just like how the current 4chan is unrecognizable compared to classic 4chan, future 4chan will be that much different.

The hobby boards are just retirement homes for people who were using the site a decade ago. No new blood and the ones who do come are the same kind of retards that make /v/ and /pol/ so shit today. There is a good chance at some point the site will be forced to close some of the smaller boards when there is no one left to moderate them and they eventually start being flooded with CP.

I disagree, /tg is pretty much just redditors and tourists using the hekkin edgy anonymous dark website!

simple. those boards are not imageboards anymore. I have no clue about the legalities of smut that involves CP across the world

Dead, and deader. The boards I used to like are either dead, slow, or barely talk about the topic of the board at all. It'll probably shut down in the late 2030s but who knows. Something Awful still trudges along as the internet hospice home.

Sad, yet true. The ones I liked were mostly dead, or occasionally get raided by /pol/. Some boards are in zombie states only kept alive by one or two generals. /mu/ is the biggest example with how the only active thread are the kpop generals and god forbid, the amount of splinters it made.

4chan’s future is being more dead and more irrelevant as time goes on until it’s corpse has been picked clean by Redditors and discord raidfags. The only real users left in its digital ruins will be the schizos, continuing their autistic crusades as if there’s anyone else around to listen. And the only moderation actions will be banning anyone who talks about the sorry state of their boards.

Some day in the not too distant future, the last real anon will tell a Redditor to fuck off, and a janny will ban him. And it shall be the last ban on 4chan before the staff pulls the plug.

There is a concern that LLMs will turn to shit because its input will be the output of other LLMs. 4chan might have suffered the same fate. /r/4chan and discord trannies, feeding on the output of 4chan, ruined 4chan by becoming part of the input.
