Retro games =/= old games or games from my childhood. Retro gaming ends with the PS1/Saturn/N64 and any PC games released around that time. Maybe the Dreamcast, maybe not. Anything beyond that point belongs on /v/.

It doesn't matter if it means /vr/ is a slower board. There are lots of slow, niche interest boards.

Yes, and that makes the games of the generation before them 25-30 years old. The number of people that discuss gen 6-7 games is far greater than of the older generations and push them out. The number of people that played FO3 compared to FO1 is far greater. Even if FO3 is 18 years old.
You barely see any discussion of 3rd gen content anymore besides daily Sega System spam. It's so weird to see the board acting like the NES was a footnote in history that's not even worth acknowledging, that's how you know /vr/ is zoomer ridden these days. Even MD/SNES threads are becoming very rare outside of normalfag sonicmariozelda threads, and threads dedicated to other games of that era die quickly with very few replies. The board is already half-moribund with endless 6th gen console wars threads, if they end up including the 7th gen it will be the final death knell for the community..

Does /vr/ have a new shizo or something. There's like 5+ threads of "the thinking man's castlevania". Unless i've been gone too long and the castlevania general has turned into /vr/'s /dbs/,

The sharteens, whom I believe are behind the Sega System spam, also tend to have these bouts of spammed subjects that last for a week before switching to another one. Things like spending a week spamming Halo threads, then the next week Mortal Kombat threads, and recently there was a GTA SA spam wave too. So I wouldn't be surprised it's the same bunch coordinating crap to flood the board.

new (easier) captcha even doe the botnet is still up and actively being used to spam cp with an autosolver
Tbh, spambots and leto/ecker already figured out how to bypass captchas with ease no matter what they did. Even the captcha with the dots above letters was solved by the ecker. 4chan is banking now on restricting new sessions' posting permissions (can't make new threads or upload files until the cookie is old enough) to deter spam.

Don't worry, that captcha was a placeholder before adding something that is even worse.
Looks like you were right:

Edit: Of course I've already been banned for complaining

Retro gaming is sort of like how classic rock refers to a specific era of music and not just any rock that’s classic. The 360 shouldn’t be considered retro in the same reason why a band like Nirvana isn’t considered classic rock even though it is rock that is “classic”.

I just tested the new captcha. This clears that stupid gibberish letters and the nightmare mode dotted gibberish letters. If it remains this simple I will be happy, I don't even need an automatic solver like I did for the letters.

Games didn't even exist until the 1980s so that would make no games retro

The current "good boy" captcha looks like this:

No anti-OCR squiggles, just some numbers you can type out with a numpad.

As usual, RapeApe is trying to make it as miserable for fresh posters to start posting just to deter 'ecker autosolvers, while trying to make it easier for regular "verified" users. The more you post, the easier the captcha gets, and if you've been posting on the same cookie ID for a few days then you're considered a regular user so you get the piss easy captchas. You could say it "rewards" you for gritting your teeth and pushing on posting with the shitty starter captchas that are only there because the FBI is somehow even more incompetent than RapeApe.
