What the hell is MCYT / McYtTwt?
Minecrafters on YouTube have existed since Minecraft became a thing. Things have turned for the worse since 2019 and to the present day we've witnessed the rise people "stanning" said creators within this community. This over the course of two years has resulted in the unholy Lovecraftian abomination that is MCYT and McYtTwt. From people creating art of their favorite creators being turned into furniture to creating erotic fanfiction featuring creators who are actual minors (See, Dream's Thread for more details on the fat man). This wasn't the case back in 2019, so you might be asking yourself what the hell happened so that this situation might have happened.

The Dream SMP & MCYT in 2021
We all know Dream, the guy with +20M YouTube subscribers, the man who's stans are infamous for being extremely spergy and obsessive. Why is this, I genuinely have no clue how. He has his own thread here on Kiwi just because of how much drama the man causes from cheating in his speed runs and lying to the whole world about it to his slap fight with John Swan, today we'll be talking about his stans. Dream stans are probably the most degenerate, toxic, and oddly enough the most puritan esque out of all the stans in existence with the exception of BTS Stans who are currently in the midst of a tard fight with the Dream Stans over who can be the most toxic spergs on the internet. When digging through Dream Stan twitter, you can find how absolutely deranged these people can be at times as well as some very weird shit. As seen in the Dream thread, some of these individuals end up creating yaoi of their favorite creators, or even talk about their deranged fantasies on how they want to rape, dismember, and torture their favorite creators in some of the most mentally incoherent ramblings that would make Chris Chan seem sane by comparison.

All of these people are stanning a man who not only creates videos in a block game, but also a man who has the charisma of a decade's old cum rag. Going through MCYT twitter, you will see people behaving like cultists and someone who'd you'd expect to be at a Jim Jones congregation. Hell, it's gotten to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if any of them would end up kamikazeing ships, or committing mass suicide for their favorite creator. The sad part is, that the behavior of most of these stans are most likely going to get worse from here. How a cult of personality managed to congregate around a personality as bland and milquetoast as Dream is genuinely beyond my comprehension. Let's go through the people who are most popular on the Dream SMP and their stans.

Dream (Fatass): 20 Million Subscribers, and the most popular of the bunch. Unlike other groups with stans, Dream actually goes out of his way to encourage his stans in some regards because he needs more money for blow, probably (he's also fat). TommyInnit (unfunny british kid): Got popular initially from SMP Earth, the e-celeb knockoff of /int/craft. A 17 year old who's jokes are more stale than both Soviet Era bread and his fellow YouTubers put together yet people still think he's funny, how you may ask? It's a mystery as old as time itself. Some how his jokes manage to be worse than Amy Shumer's, and in spite of this he's managed to gain 8 Million subscribers in a year. GeorgeNotFound (Leach No. 1): A leach from Britain who's best butt buddies with Dream and the only reason why he even has a single drop of fame. BadBoyHalo (The Oldfag): Minecraft content creator since the year 2012, started out way before everyone else here. Tubbo (Idk what he's known for, being Tommy's friend I think): Another part of the MCYT Clique and specifically the people who surround the Dream SMP. WilburSoot (Twink): Known for assisting Chip in setting up SMP earth, got popular for some videos with Jschlatt. Ranboo (Terminal AIDS) Has the most hypersensitive of all stans. They make tumblrinas from 2014 look like stoics.

Some fan confessed to stealing Cooper's water bottle and everyone was weirded out (rightfully). Most SMPLive users denounced stans now so they found someone new, Dream, who loves his kittens.

I feel like the Dream Stans already have a home in the Dream thread and there is already a community watch for Minecraft Youtubers as a whole. It's not a bad OP, but I think this thread already has a lot of overlap with others.

I'll be working on a follow up post showcasing their creepiness, I wasn't able to find a lot while creating the thread just a few autistic posts here and there. Also I find the background on how this came to be to be interesting in and of itself because, why and how does a community go from relatively tame to batshit insane?

MCYT stans have a lot of potential as cows IMO, they're cut from the same cloth as Kpop stans so there's room to highlight how obsessive and degenerate they are (and they're even worse, because unlike Kpop the content creators directly interact with their stans and some of them are underage)

There's also a lot of Woke on Woke violence on twitter as everyone but them on that side of the website thinks the youtubers are irredeemable bigots. The rise of MCYT stan bullshit has allowed Kpop stans to redeem themselves from being the previous cringe degenerates everyone hated by trollshielding about how at least they don't stan Minecraft youtubers.

Honestly, this whole DID thing nowadays is really just an excuse for them to roleplay their favourite Minecraft Youtuber character (EDIT: Not even the DSMP character- some just steal the identity of the actual streamer.) Agree with the wall of text criticism others have said, more screenshots of the degeneracy should be shown.
The community during the SMPLive days was called smptwt, and though it wasn't as large as current day groups it was still a cohesive community actually. The difference between now and then, as again, others have mentioned, is that creators didn't give a fuck about pandering to their audience. One thing for smptwt specifically that I think could be mentioned is smpronpa, which is referenced in Carson's 'serious stream'.

For the uninitiated, smpronpa was a very popular fanfic on Wattpad which combined SMPLive and Danganronpa together. Yes, a fan (their wattpad name was nivisons) wrote about minecrafters killing each other in detail. Most of the community loved it and even a few creators that were in the story joked about it. After the 'serious stream', the fanfic was wiped and only exists in archives.

this is a side note: but in the stream where Carson talks about the water bottle incident, he is referencing tweets from a now deleted account called something like smpconfessions. One of the tweets on the same account mentioned that several girls in the community had been groomed by someone in SMPLive, Carson ignored this tweet for one reason or another

This account has been finding various archives of the fanfiction. There's an archived carrd in there which has several full chapters saved. I read a few chapters out of curiosity back then and remember some of the deaths being pretty gorey, someone was beat to death with a guitar and another person was locked in a freezer. Interesting precursor to Dream chair.

Another smptwt event I remember is the time they fought with a bunch of Ted Bundy stans. I don't think anything awful went down but the sheer idea of the two groups fighting is fucking hilarious imo.
