No point in breaking down the detailed positives and negatives of the game since most people here already did it well, so I'll just say that I wish there were more narrow spaces to fly through that weren't 1-target mission focused. I was hoping for something like the multiple oil rigs in 7. Also hate the occasional UE8 visual glitch of massive out of place reflections over the ocean (If you've played anything on UE8 you likely have seen this), that shit takes me out whenever it happens, although it only seems to occur in night missions.

"Damn I hate Belkans" exclaimed Blaze as he vaporized a crowd of innocent Lesathians. "Gah! I'm so angry. Nothing comes close to massacring Belkans." He then switched to JDAMs and sent one into a childrens hospital - the 7th this afternoon.

"Are you sure you should have done that captain?" asked Archer, his snively Osean voice worming its way out.

"Shut up NUGGET," growled Blaze as he dropped white phosphorus on 43 orphans. "Damn I wish I could spawn more retarded Oseans* right now"

Archer raised a typically pathetic Osean eyebrow "Nagase's in space right? Why's that?"

"She's blowing up the peaceful Belkan lunar research station**" grumbled Blaze. "It's hard feeding nine future war criminals when all they eat are Ustio college students. General Resources charges a fortune!***"

"Isn't GR**** a proxy company for the Belkan state?" asked stupid Osean Archer.

"Hah!" barked Blaze, "A Yuktobanian lie! General Resources is a loyal and beneficial company and we Oseans should trust them without question."

"And Neucom***** as well."

"Them too." agreed Blaze as he vaporized a school. "It's time" he chuckled. "Damn I hate Belkans" he continued.

*See NUN educations statistics 2029

**No such emplacement exists and the non-existent lunar station contains no strategic armaments of any kind

***The Osean state heavily subsidizes both human trafficking along with its dimwitted, and feral juvenile population, See Rald, 2025.

****General Resources (all rights reserved) is an independent company based in Oured and has no ties to the Belkan Principality. The Belkan government assumes no responsibility for any of General Resources' past and future actions.

*****Neucom (all rights reserved) is an independent company based in Farbanti and has no ties to the Belkan Principality. The Belkan government assumes no responsibility for any of Neucom's past and future actions.

Cope was a DEI hire by the FCU to promote clearly incompetent foreign pilots. The active anti-racism training mandate by the FCU Navy made them retarded. They apparently never noticed what a Sotoan looked like and thus never questioned why Enso wanted to promote a clearly sotoan pilot who never shot a single sotoan invader down.

So has anyone here heard of Rubylight? He's a Ace Combat "critic" that just had a crash out over 8 saying it's the worst in the series and Project Aces doesn't care for the hardcore fan base.

Id say hold on the throttle a bit, its a butt hurt take but once the honey moon phase ends I wouldn't be shocked if this becomes accepted btw. Ac8s story kinda does wane in some places if we are being honest. Strangereal has a lot of world building and background lore but a lot of it just rings hollow in the actual games a lot of the time. We are told Sotoa is this poor nation on the brink and these mother fuckers pulled out more super weapons and soldiers out of their ass like it was candy.

They're resource-poor rather than economically poor, somewhat similar to Japan during the Meiji period.

The art book says they used Chinese debt-trap diplomacy to practically buy out Rocky Island, Newfield, and use a fake nuclear accident scare to secretly turn it into their USEAN arms factory before the war. The eastern FCU was stuck in "prolonged economic stagnation" - in part due to the ISEV decimating their space industries - and the Sotoans showed up with the cash to fund "communications networks, energy infrastructure, and key ports dependent on Sotoan capital. As a result, surrounding countries, including the FCU, saw heir national sovereignty effectively hollowed out through economic dependence, leading to weakened political leverage".

None of this was conveyed in both the mini-series nor the game. The reason they hit Expo City at the start was because the UN was mustering troops there for a forced inspection of Rocky Island. These are pretty critical story details and for some unknown reason - with all the funding Bamco has poured into making this game successful - they still hide it in a pre-order exclusive book.

Like I said, Strangereal has ALOT of world building but they are just very hesitant to actually add it to the games themselves its so odd its been the case for fuckin years at this point.

The Japanese websites for past games had in-universe magazine sections though, didn't they? That was where significant background material was sourced from like the GAZE magazines.

This is why one of my main complaints with 8 is that they didn't do enough with the setting of Strangereal.

This guy sounds a frail faggot and his whiny doomposting is unfathomably fucking retarded.
Has anyone seen anything about modding the FOV? The external chase camera is a bit too narrow for my taste.
There's been a mod for it on nexus since like day 2, but it requires turning off EAC (which is easy) and I assume that modding the game will require that in the future.

Also im vindicated that AC8 online is just infinity 2 I do wonder if they will try to add more to it? Longer missions? Boss variants? I have been loving it even with its usual AC online cancer

I only just got through the 3rd mission but man, it's hard to articulate how earnest the game is. They play almost everything straight and it's refreshing. SOVL, as some might call it.

It needs longer mission types because the regular modes end too quickly.

Also LAAMs need to be taken out back and shot because their tracking is absurd.

Ace Combat has always pretty much always been a casual flight game? Like, none of them are particularly punishing to play outside of some 100% completion or challenge runs. I understand the point, the higher difficulties of AC8 genuinely are too forgiving, but complaining about the casualization of a casual game in a casual genre seems kind of pointless.
I have been tearing into elite rank on first playthrough and pretty certain I am running planes 2 ranks below what I am supposed too. But I understand I have probably thousands of hours in the ace combat series. Hundreds of hours in other arcade flight sims like aero elite combat academy hawks and project wingman. So I don't feel like a reasonable judge of how difficult it is. But I have been pleased with the story and some unique challenges the game offers so far I am on mission 22. So far I am enjoying it more than ace combat 7 just from the set up alone because the idea of a penal combat wing sounds stupid.

It's getting late at night for me presently so lighting isn't ideal to image pages from the Aces at War book, but I have new complaints - there was 0 proofreading done on it. Some characters' biographies in the book are just cut-off mid-sentence, like Jenkins and Pike.

The short stories included in the book suggest that the Tonitrus Spear satellites were first launched under the cover of being telescopes, and only during the opening salvo was it revealed that they're rods from God.
One of the in-game Assault Records has a typo in it, so that isn't surprisng.

I hate most gaming youtubers more than I hate Sotoans.

I killed 5000 people with rockets and shit. But now my wingman is sad and wants REVENGE because an autistic person on our side got slighty hurt.
