I'm pretty sure 0 shows that was to halt the allied advance. Logically, if Osea occupied the whole country they could dictate terms however they liked, while this way the Belkan government still would have some leverage. They nuked themselves 7 times to avoid surrendering, just to surrender anyways
Technically a wall of nuclear detonations is total overkill to halt an enemy advance but it looks cooler so that's that.
The strong implication was that Enso and GR are run by the same people. There's also the fact that GR's goals in AC3 are practically the same as Enso's in AC8. DD even explains the Enso execs will just liquidate what they have and move it under different companies they control. Enso also worked heavily with GR and the X-40 was a joint Enso-GR project. We're definitely back. I loved all the little references to AC04 with the ISAF planes in M13 and M14, Lifeline in the desert is also inspired by the original Lifeline. The plot is also much more engaging that 7's trainwreck. Plane selection is lame just as it was in AC6 however, safe to assume the reason in this case could be multiplayer. Also fuck Enso Order, such a dumb faceless main antagonist that you cannot punish in any way, did they also retcon my beloved General Resource into inheriting the neural COFFIN interface instead of developing it on their own? Either way, the crypto and token stuff was unpalatable, out of touch, and hard to relate to.. funny considering the eponymous DAO was a literal Ethereum scam that changed the rules of the game as soon as they got played themselves. What I'm glad about is that Sotoans are so comically evil you don't feel as bad going all out on them like you do for Belkans (a special kind of autism), Yukes or Eruseans.
The dumb part comes from how Enso is even legally incorporated considering they practically run themselves like an organized crime group, with shell companies and obscured ownership. Why would any government give these guys free reign? How do they pay taxes? How do the mysterious execs pay taxes? If they can't, why hasn't Enso been audited for tax evasion?
It seems sort of that the writers wanted to integrate blockchain and generative machine models into the story and didn't think much of the logsitics. Standard for AC games come to think of it.
