Right off the bat, let's address some things

1. LMAO Nigga ADHD isn't real, you're just lazy

It is real; however, it's also heavily overdiagnosed in kids and teens, which is why this opinion is so widespread since almost every single person on Xitter or TikTok says they have it

2. Why does everyone get diagnosed with it these days?

While I do not have real proof of it, I believe that much of it is self-inflicted. These days almost every single thing (technology, social media, or various media like video games or film series) is looking for ways to waste our time through clever psychological ways mostly through algorithms or adding bullshit mechanics

3. What's the difference between laziness and procrastination?

A lazy person, in principle, does not want and is not going to do anything. At the same time, he is not in a state of stress and does not feel guilty, does not replace what should have been done with other things. He is simply resting and not expending energy.

A person who procrastinates realizes that they need to work on a task and is going to do it, but later. At the same time, the person is not resting: instead of doing an important urgent task, they are doing something else. As the deadline approaches, anxiety increases, stress and guilt appear. The procrastinator wastes energy on unimportant tasks and attempts to cope with stress.

4. Why is it that some people are helped by some method of dealing with procrastination, but for others this method doesn't work?

Procrastination is more of a symptom of something. The causes of procrastination can vary, so the method that works for you may not work for someone else

5. Did anyone ever come out of this hole? I haven't seen anyone like that.

When someone gets out and conquers his procrastination, there is no need to hang out in the circles of “loser” procrastinators. They just go on with their lives and enjoy knowing that they have conquered the mountain. They are people who occasionally share their advice but some people like to sit on their asses and just whine about not being productive

6. You have ADHD? But you made so many long and informative OPs, I thought you had a good work ethic

Yes, I do, and it's fucking terrible. I honestly wish I had a good work ethic tbh (:_(. I made these OPs through sheer willpower and berating myself over promising people on the site to make them

Now let's actually get to the point. If you have it, how do you "fix it"?

Try, just try to improve your situation. This is important to mention since nowadays there are a lot of retards with ADHD who like to use it as an excuse for not doing their tasks

Now about the methods, there are A LOT of them, and I mean it. The document that houses all the methods people have come up with is 198 pages long. All the info you'll see in the links is in Russian. Why you may ask, well that's because these were the only ones that didn't speak to you in the pozzed corpo language that makes normal people annoyed and spoke to you like a normal person. These were all compiled by the anons over at Russian Altchan Dvach (referred to these days as Sosach because it's not the same as in the earlier days) and others, you actually have ordinary people like you and me who talk and write their experiences instead of "professionals in the field". Due to the fact how widespread ADHD is these days, many people jump onto this ship offering their "solutions" that will 100% fix everything but in reality, most of them turn out to be doing jack shit, believe me when I say this because I actually fell for this shit :(

I think there are interconnected issues between people that are being drastically misinformed about ADHD, medical professionals that do inaccurate diagnosis and stupid and impressionable manchildren being stupid and impressionable manchildren. Same can be applied to clinical depression, types of autism and variations of stress disorders: all of these are a pain to live with and I despise people that find the courage to romanticize it - not a single person who knows what ADHD is would be proud to put it in their Discord bio.

Me myself and quite a few people I personally know well were clinically diagnosed with at least one of those in their school years - I believe, most of those cases were false and exaggerated, as the documented papers proved that by featuring a lot of biased information on attitude and behaviour.

After all, the psyche of a child is vastly different from the psyche of an adult and I hope a psychiatrist would be aware of it. Kids are generally more enthusiastic, more impressionable and particularly curious about discovering new things and adding variety to their casual deeds. They don’t like work or effort, unless they’re motivated by something that’s important to them. No, kids can’t concentrate on work or keep their focus for long enough because they’ve got a condition - they might simply be not invested enough into the subject matter.

Similarly, if a guy didn’t have any friends while growing up, hence got zero social experience and spent his entire childhood as a media consumer, developing no hobbies but writing reviews of anime titles, it doesn’t particularly mean that the guy is autistic - he may be just a socially retarded and self-indulging degenerate who is too scared or lazy to work on improving his life.

By the way, thanks for linking all that great material, OP. I’ll try to find the time and translate it so non-Russian speaking people can read it without applying any extra work on their behalf.

Thanks muchacho :)

I believe ADHD is an 'industrial disease'. In pre-modern times, I think there was enough routine and community in life that the 'adhd' person was just the guy who liked to ride his horse fast and flirt with married women. ie. not disabled. But in modern society, fractured and isolated, with more choices to make, that same person becomes disabled.

The average person speeds himself up with caffiene to cope with the machine world.
The Adhd person is offered something more stimulating than coffee, since he is further behind.

Who says it's real? The same modern psychiatric establishment that's willing to tell someone they're sad because they're actually a girl?

I've heard various (rather tentative) explanations having something to do with compromised norepinephrine processing or whatever, but the reality is regardless of the proposed mechanics at no other point in time would any of this either be a problem or be considered a disorder.

ADHD has become one of those catch-all disorders for the internet generation that's used to explain away any difference they percieve between themselves and the (imagined) behavior of the masses.

Buying into ADHD is for bugmen: it helps to re-frame individuals' issues as being the fault of their broken mind, rather than the system's increasing inability to meet people's needs.

Imo if someone finds taking stimulant ADHD meds helps them (it always just made me feel burnt out and gave me headaches) then do whatever works, but that's not a disorder, that's a totally adequate person who has to take unnatural steps to cope with an unnatural environment.

Due to the fact how widespread ADHD is these days, many people jump onto this ship offering their "solutions" that will 100% fix everything but in reality, most of them turn out to be doing jack shit, believe me when I say this because I actually fell for this shit :(
Well it's a challenge to come up with solutions because of that catch-all status ADHD has; what are the actual symptoms?

You cite procrastination as being a primary ADHD symptom, except it seems just as likely to be a consequence of anxiety (especially if you've got someone who's kind of OCD, and will overwhelm themselves because they can't do something without wearing themselves out over unimportant details).

Just about any behavioral issue in the world has been tagged under the ADHD umbrella at some point. Its symptoms seem to shift based upon whatever is most convenient.

Anyone here got a cure for that leg shaking body shaking thing one does at night
Magnesium glycinate. It is a readily available over the counter supplement that can be bought almost anywhere. Magnesium deficiency is thought to be a contributing factor to restless leg syndrome. There are studies available that point to magnesium supplementation in the form of magnesium citrate and magnesium glycinate to having some positive effect toward RLS symptoms after one month of treatment.

Seconded.

Also seconding the OP. I never wanted to go on pills as a kid and resisted for decades of adulthood, but that first dose of Ritalin was what I imagine some shamans experience on weird jungle drugs. The constant mental shouting just... stopped. It was fucking weird. I don't think I properly appreciated before, but subjectively it's like being unable to control your own brain. If something was bothering me I just could not stop myself from thinking about it; the only cure was to distract myself with something else, whether a book or vidya or guitar. Absent stimulation, my mind was like the Arab souk, filled with shouting hawkers.

1. I'll also echo the people saying Magnesium Glycinate. Cheap and effective. Try to get that one specifically, as glycinate is also calming, and other variations of the Magnesium salt (esp. Oxide iirc) can actually may you go argo.

2. YMMV but I find a chewable Vit C, and especially a nicotine lozenge also puts the problem to rest rapidly.

3. Getting your blood sugars under control also helps your poor nerves. If you have not investigated whether or not you are a pre-diabetic, I suggest doing so.

Restless leg syndrome is when you have involuntary movement of your leg, correct? What I’m talking about is semi voluntary shaking of legs or other body parts, you’re conscious of doing it and you can stop it but it feels necessary to continue because it calms your brain when you’re trying to fall asleep. I.e it’s body rocking some dopamine out of your globe. Unless that magnesium is laced with meth I don’t think this will help but thank you

RLS is when you feel a pent up desire to move your limbs. The feeling seems to come from the limbs and is not psychological. It is a voluntary movement, but you feel under torture/duress if you do not do it. The relief is only temporary though, the urge returns very quickly.

Basically the ambient sensation from your body is not transmitting well to your mind, so your mind is demanding stronger neural feedback (by moving your limbs.) That is why substances that calm the nerves, or habits that keep the system in good repair, help resolve RLS.

(Yes, I do plan to comment here a lot. I hope I do not wear out my welcome.)

I agree that ADHD—the constant seeking of stimulation—is a symptom of the lack of stimulation and purpose in modern society, but I think the reason why many people give themselves this label and medicate themselves is to remove personal responsibility and say it is something they cannot change.

The attitude concerning ADHD has gotten so warped is because of how badly it's been handled over the decades.

IIRC, From the late 60's up until 1980, it was called 'Hyperkinetic disorder' and it wasn't a common diagnosis because a physician would have to observe a child's behavior directly. This was to see if it was at a level that was dehabilitating before treatment progressed. After that it was called ADD until around 1987 and it covered a broad range of symptoms that are now classified differently (for example, ADHD-1 is inattentive presentation with no hyperactivity, ADHD-2 is hyperactive presentation and ADHD-3 is both. But when it was called ADD, that covered all of that). This led to a lot of kids being diagnosed with ADD and were prescribed things like Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine, etc. These drugs have been around for a while and have been prescribed to kids since as early as the 40's, but in the 80's and 90's it was being prescribed like it was going out of style because all it took to get it as a kid was simply not doing your fucking book report and being bored as all hell in class. On one hand, figuring out which prescription works best for a phychological disorder is a crapshoot because everyone's brain reacts differently, but it's indisputable that WAY too many kids were being doped up on these meds. And very few people actually stopped to think that maybe their kid is spazzing out or not focusing on anything from all of the high octane sugar and caffiene that were in food and drinks for kids back int the 80's and 90's. Damn, I miss the original SURGE soda....that was that GOOD shit.

Up until very recently, ADHD was only diagnosed to children. I'm not sure what changed to be able to diagnose adults for that, but I'd imagine that a big reason is because a lot of kids who have ADHD never got evaluated for it because their parents either just thought they were lazy or they didn't want their kid diagnosed with it and get hooked on stimulants for life (I was one of those kids and I didn't get diagnosed for it until I was grown). Idk about you, but I think it's pretty fucking suspect how medical professionals were totally on board with giving a generation of kids Schedule 1 narcotics en masse and not even attempt to treat adults with those conditions, even if they were severe.

As far as I'm concerned, you should only seek treatment for ADHD, depression, OCD and similar disorders if it's actually getting in the way of your life. School was the absolute worst for someone with ADHD no matter what category it is. Couldn't sit still with all the hyperactivity? Sitting in class for 8 hours is hell. Constantly zoning out and can't help it? No WAY you're going to read any of those books or absorb information from a lecture. Now that I think about it, it really didn't help that kids raised in the 80's/90's/00's were expected to not only graduate high school but also finish college with no alternative. Can't blame that one on the medical industry.

I think it's difficult to exactly pin down what ADHD is, even as someone that has it. "Difficulty focusing on tasks" is correct but it's not the whole story. This is likely part of the reason why some people are so quick to deny its existence.
When someone gets out and conquers his procrastination, there is no need to hang out in the circles of “loser” procrastinators.
Based and true.

I’ve had that feeling before. Still not the same thing. RLS feels a lot more unpleasant and less like a choice, imo.

I think one of the other reasons its so overdiagnosed now was that back in the 80s/90s diagnosis was related to actual neurological exams by neurologists now its psychiatrists that choose if someone has it based on the DSM.
