After a certain age, you become invisible.

Think about it. You never notice the older people walking/shuffling around unless they are in your way. You don't see them as people, just nebulous shapes that go by. You don't see or remember them at all, in a way.

Yet many of these people have a great deal of knowledge and experience. They know things you don't know and can do things you cannot do. But they are invisible.

So what can the invisible people do? About anything they want. Nobody notices them. The invisible go all over, do what they will, depart.

Truth is, if I were running spies, would like to have some of the "invisible people" working for me. The qualities that make them invisible make them good spies. They can be trained in what to look for, and who cares about some old person wandering about?

Just a thought. Yup, I'm invisible too.

Do you think that as the generation of people who never had kids gets old we're going to see a weird spike in elderly crime?

Elderly people basically have nothing to lose, even if they go to jail they'll be dead soon anyway so the threat of a 60-year jail sentence doesn't mean much to someone who will be dead in 3.

Because they have nothing to lose you'd think old people would be a major threat to society, always trying to bomb politicians for destroying their pension or just creepy old men running around raping people because they're gonna be dead within the next two years so fuck it.

In the past old people's familial ties kept them in line, they had grand-children to care for and a legacy of sorts to preserve. But now we have more and more childless people reaching old age, they have nothing tying them down, everyone they cared about is dead, the countries they are in are completely unrecognizable to the ones they grew up in. These old people are walking time bombs, they could snap at any moment and take us all out.

Something someone pointed out to me. I cannot remember who.

When was the last time you saw a man and a pregnant woman together? I think I've seen it maybe once in the last three years. Maybe COVID did more of a number on me than I thought?

Nah I notice older people because I'm always a little nervous that they're going to fall/hurt themselves in my vicinity and I'll feel responsible for helping them.

Also older women will try to hook you up with their daughters/granddaughters if they think you're nice.

Idk, I have no problem hanging out with old people. They have more experiences and are usually more laid back about day to day issues.

Doubtful. Most of the elderly are boomers, who tend to have families, grandkids, etc. Doesn't mean things cannot happen, just not as likely or as violently as you might think.

Even if you're going to be dead soon you don't want to spend your final days in prison.

Bad people are nowhere near as widespread as you think they are.

Last time I saw a man and a pregnant woman together would have been at the commissary, can't remember when.

Yep. We're invisible. And Covid gave people an excuse to ignore old people more than before. Once upon a time, the elderly were revered as repositories of wisdom. Now, we're shoved aside for whatever the new fad is.
Not going to lie, a majority of the elderly people I've met are not repositories of wisdom and are woefully out of touch with how things have changed.
