I've come back to this thread because Sanjay Gupta was on T.V recently giving people advice on the Corona virus and ''super foods''. I just can't take this guy seriously. He was fooled personally by Amanda Baggs in a sit down interview way back when. He even called her ''Remarkable''. Hack!
 
Just looking at some of Amanda's old blog posts where she discusses her family. As I stated earlier, in spite of her countless lies, I think she does in fact occasionally let certain truths "slip" (I think most munchies in general do this). Here's another example.

I know how I am supposed to feel about this — according to various bits of popular psychology — by how I see people all over the place portraying it. I am supposed to feel cheated out of a proper childhood by growing up with a mother with what’s considered a severe mental illness, and I’m also supposed to be traumatized by it and very much wish that she would take medication (and possibly involve myself in NAMI and try to force her to take medication, and commiserate with all the other NAMI members when she won’t).

This is the first time I ever heard her refer to her mother as having a mental illness. It actually makes some sense to me. Since Amanda was a minor when all this shit first started, her mom would had to have been the one responsible for seeing that she obtained certain services. Again, Amanda is by no means blameless and I have little sympathy if any for her. But I do wonder if mom could have some MBP or borderline tendencies that helped initiate or at least willingly encourage her daughter's scam. That creepy video of her mom where she lets us know in an eerily polite tone of voice that Amanda is in fact autistic and that she is not told what to write always set off alarm bells. After all, if everything was really on the level, why make the video at all? It's interesting to note that the video was made roughly a year before that debacle on Wrong Planet where everybody finally called out Amanda for her inconsistencies and she stopped posting there.

I'll have to look through more of her blog posts to see if she mentions her mom's mental health any more. The little tidbits she gives us paint a picture of a very dysfunctional family unit. I feel like some of Amanda's backstory is beginning to unravel a bit.

c) her poetry hurts my sensibilities and I say that as POWERLEVEL someone who volunteers with an exceptional individual poetry group /POWERLEVEL

you know, i never thought about it, i mean i know her mom is a bit '' off'' because of the shit shes bought into over the years and she has been a big ''supporter'' of amanda over the years in the whole autism farce , so you might be on to something here,... because most parents who had a kid or any relative who was a munchie, they would not buy into or enable any of it and often times they get written off and cut off from the family, not aided by them ( and i do not blame them one bit, if i had anyone in my family who did this crap, id completely cut them off, as the stigma of having a person like that in your family and associating with them can seriously hurt your life directly .

yeah ! i remember that video of amandas mom, yes that did set off something with me as well, it seemed so rehersed, or fake on some level.....

i think mom might have some tendencies , as her mom was known to buy into some odd '' treatments'' and such, but really her mom seems more easily manipulated then anything else, and Amanda, has been able to get her mom on board to buy into this mess, as well as other factors helping convince Amy---her mom to go along with all this stuff over the years .

i have noticed her mom doesn't seem to be involved.... but who knows what Amanda and or mom might be or might not be hiding from public eye

you know, now, self induced or not, Amanda does have major respiratory issues... and right now we are in a pretty major pandemic with COVID-19... i wonder if she will end up getting sick---- or pulling some sort of attention seeking scam, as the attention is all on the current happenings in the world today....not on Amanda and her so called disabilities and ''oppression

yes i saw that also, i can only guess at the level of madness and con, she is running because she has all these meds and such, not all of it is covered under medicaid.... and she supposedly is not with howard services anymore she is with aris and transition II i think ... i dont know why she seemed to switch from howard.... but either way, the so called services she claims to need so bad, and all these meds and equipment, some of it, even when legit, is not always covered under insurance

i know what you mean, my mind is still not wrapped around the fact that, no one ever calls her out on her shit, why isnt she is jail or a mental home,... why hasent it made the news that she is a munchie, she isa fraud

and yes like you said too--- im surprised she is still alive because of all the physical health issues she has largely brought on herself, that are quite serious in all actuality .

This feels weirdly staged but, at the same time I feel like Mel did croak. The most likely cause of death is infection from unclean feeding tubes (she had those, right?).

It's because she sued anyone who claimed she was full of shit. I don't understand why anyone would waste time on a lawsuit where people say stuff like that. Someone thinks you're faking? Who cares - that's their problem.

I'm disappointed that ASAN gave her death the time of day.

yes i am very curious, im, not sure if it was staged, i doubt she has the skills to organize / fake her own death, because she was aways so spaced, and she did lack focus plus how deusional she is / was....i doubt she could pull all that off. if it is true, that she did die, i am with you all, very curious to know the details, the when, where how, ect. but yes, i am willing to bet it was due to how unhealthy she was and how careless and all she had become over the years , but she only has herself to blame as she did 99 percent of this mess to herself !

the lunacy , is the fact that the disabled / autistic communities still tout her and regard her as a legit advocate for and with the disabled

Very much same. While it's leagues better than Autism Speaks, it's still not a great organisation because it straight-up encourages and welcomes "self-diagnosed" people and assures them there's no need to be assessed by a doctor if they don't want to be (among other badly-thought-out and incorrect ideas). Bearing this in mind, I shouldn't be surprised they wouldn't dare to question her story, but it's still harmful and disappointing on their part.

I lost interest in them when I saw them getting involved in identity politics outside the autism spectrum.

Maybe they were afraid of being sued? Wouldn't surprise me. She claimed to have the 'tism -and- be non-binary/intersex/whatever.
